Black and white wedding photos: Ageless, timeless, classic! Portrait Perfect Black And White Wedding Photos | The Party Goddess!

Last week when I was talking about bridesmaid dresses, I poked fun at the ‘90s as an era of questionably stylish fashion, at least when it came to weddings. And yes, I’m aware the 90s are very in now! And some of that is OK with me since it means that saving my collection of chokers all this time wasn’t completely pointless. However, maybe a few more years need to pass till we won’t cringe at the sight of a matchy-matchy bridal party in dresses that are perfect for no one. Every wedding album will wear the mark of its decade. Depending on when you’re looking at it, you may find this charming… or cringe-inducing. To avoid the cringing, consider taking some black and white wedding photos. With the right lighting, black and white images can be stunning, artistic and timeless, rather like a portrait.

In addition to making the subjects look great (imperfections more noticeable in color seem to disappear), black and white wedding photos can better capture the mood of one’s wedding day, especially the most sacred moments. Sometimes color is distracting, whereas black and white photography can provide focus and calm. It also gives images an ageless, classic quality, something you’ll value more as the years go by. That’s probably even true of a wedding that took place in 1996 — or worse, 1986!

This week, we’re sharing a collection of black and white wedding photos that are beautiful and will stand the test of time. Take a look and see if you’re inspired to take some black and white shots yourself!

If you’ve been one of my loyal blog followers, you know that we publish these image roundups weekly. We feature a particular event for a particular client so you can go deep on the particular theme. If you know what’s up, skip this part. New visitors, take a look below…

In case you missed it, here’s what we’re doing, mentioned in the first blog. (And if you already know what’s going on, skip to the first photo!) Every day we’re posting event photos & inspiration to my Instagram page to give you ideas for your own events. And, of course, to encourage you to hire yours truly, one of the top Los Angeles wedding planners, for your next soirée! In terms of format, we’re trying to capitalize on the whole hashtag calendar world and take advantage of #WeddingWednesday (#WW) and #ThrowbackThursday (#TBT) by posting wedding photos and cool stuff we’ve done on Wednesdays and on Thursdays, harkening back to a past client’s event, be it a celebrity, or just one of us tastemakers.

Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Monday:

This photo captures the beauty of the bride and her dress without focusing on detail. We only see her profile, not her face; her dress, but not the lace detail. I love how her dress fades into the background light, so ethereal.

A man, a cigar, a whiskey… very nice mood shot of the groom catching a quiet moment on his wedding day.

Simply stunning! Shooting this photo in black & white puts the focus on the couple rather than the background, even though you can catch a glimmer of reflection behind them. #TGIF

Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Saturday:

This isn’t quite a profile picture, yet it kind of is. We don’t see the bride or groom’s faces, yet we can sense their expression. And of course it totally shows off her awesome dress! That back!
