Have a cake that’s too pretty to eat, but don’t let that stop you!

The best part about cutting the cake at a wedding is getting to eat the cake! What’s the point of dessert if you don’t get to eat it? And yes, I think wedding cake is a dessert, not just a prop for a photo op! But speaking of photo ops, before you have your cake (and eat it, too), what’s it going to look like? Because honestly, you will take a whole lotta photos of it, and in front of it, and behind it, and of you eating it. That’s just what happens at a wedding. So if you’re looking for wedding cake ideas, read on and take a look at the photos we shared this week of some stunning wedding cakes. They’re picture perfect and almost too pretty to eat!

In case you missed it, here’s what we’re doing, mentioned in the first blog. (And if you already know what’s going on, skip to the first photo!) Every day we’re posting event photos & inspiration to my Instagram page to give you ideas for your own events. And, of course, to encourage you to hire yours truly, one of the top wedding planners in Los Angeles, for your next soirée! In terms of format, we’re trying to capitalize on the whole hashtag calendar world and take advantage of #WeddingWednesday (#WW) and #ThrowbackThursday (#TBT) by posting wedding photos and cool stuff we’ve done on Wednesdays and on Thursdays, harkening back to a past client’s event, be it a celebrity, or just one of us tastemakers.

Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Monday:

This cake was from a wedding where succulents took center stage. They were featured in interesting, artsy table decorations, and as you can see, they work on a cake too! Who knew?

Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Tuesday:

White on white. This is about as simple a way to decorate a cake as I can think of. But what a statement it makes! It looks regal and elegant, almost like a marble sculpture. Sometimes less is more, so don’t be afraid to opt for less!

Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Wednesday:

I seriously LOVE this cake! From a wedding where everything but the bride was blushing, this cake complemented the colors beautifully. Shades of pink with gold accents — so luxe! Happy #WeddingWednesday!

Cutest cake ever! Looking for wedding cake ideas for your woodsy wedding? Here’s a woodland theme cake done well. Clearly the bride and groom don’t take themselves too seriously. And they’ve given themselves a fun memento of their wedding day with this adorable cake topper.  #TBT

You can’t go wrong with flowers on a cake. So pretty, so wedding-y! This cake is the perfect inspiration for any wedding cake design where you want to incorporate more flowers. Gorgeous!

Wedding cake ideas? How’s about not forgetting about the groom amidst all these photos of wedding cake prettiness! This cigar-shaped groom’s cake was a big hit. Or should I say it was smokin’ hot?
