Top 5 Academy Awards Viewing Party Tips

In a little “throwback Tuesday/Thursday something post”, I figured I’d share tips to plan your own Hollywood soiree in a segment clip I did for Studio 10. So find that perfect Oscar party dress to walk the red carpet!

5 Tips To Hosting An Oscars Red Carpet Party:

1. Dress The Part

Who will be the “Best Dressed”? Invite your guests to come as their favorite actor or actress. It can be as simple as lashes and hair or going all out with an elaborate ball gown. Small gold trophies that can be found online or at your local party shop make great prizes. And customizing the trophies would be even better!

2. Decor

Trick out your buffet or entryway with basic fun props like movie reels, feathers and stars. You may even have some of this stuff at home…stars from the 4th of July?

3. Photo Opps

Get the kids involved! Enlist them as the paparazzi. They will be thrilled to use a digital or disposable camera to snap photos of your guests. Props like lips and mustaches add a little more fun!

4. Bar

It wouldn’t be a real Hollywood party without a stocked bar! Chill small champagne bottles and provide straws for the adults. For those underage drinkers, get something sparkly like Martinelli’s Apple Cider, and serve it in disposable champagne flutes. Kids love to feel like the adults!

5. Entertainment

Provide some fun during the commercials with a trivia contest. Which past host had the highest ratings? Who won best actress last year? An Oscar Mad Libs acceptance speech is another option. Give a prize to the winner like a beautiful bouquet to walk the red carpet.
