Deck The Halls!Creative Ideas For Any Holiday Celebration-recap image

The holidays are an amazing time of the year, for sure, but when you’re planning a holiday celebration, stress sometimes gets in the way. #Natch. Fear not because that’s where I come in!

In a little “throwback Tuesday/Thursday something post”, I figured I’d share some fun, simple and creative ways to make holiday entertaining a snap in a clip from a segment I did for Marie Osmond on the Hallmark Channel. Loved, loved, loved taping that segment.

Here’s The Clip:

The 3 Key Takeaways For Any Holiday Celebration:

  1. Keep it simple.
  2. Be creative.
  3. Think double duty.

Isn’t a party supposed to be fun? Of course it is, and the planning can be fun too! Don’t over complicate things. Keep it simple! Be creative! And always think double duty! What do you have around the house that can serve more than one purpose? Can your centerpieces be used as dessert or favors also?

Here’s a summary of the tips from the clip. Take them and make them your own. Bon appetit!

3 Ideas To Plan For A Holiday Celebration:

1. Hors d’oeuvres

Get the party started with fabulously festive holiday hors d’oeuvres. And it is oh so simple…crackers and brie. Add sugared raspberries, chutney or fresh cranberries for a little color. It looks pretty and doesn’t involve a lot of complicated steps.

2. Stir n’ Sip Station

  • Make hot chocolate at the station and then add all of these different fun add ons like Oreo cookies, meringue bits or sugar stirrers.
  • Mint-tinis can also be made here with Creme de Menthe, gin and a mint sprig.
  • Use club soda and a splash of cranberry juice for a non-alcoholic version for the kids.
  • The sugared rim is KEY! Crush up some peppermint candies to keep it festive.

3. Decor

Large Hurricanes

Fill up hurricanes that you already have around the house, maybe from Halloween or Thanksgiving, with different colored ornaments. Drag out your broken ornaments by putting them at the bottom where no one will see the “damage.” Think reuse…recycle…reduce.

Candles

Take a ribbon and tie a large initial onto the candle. It personalizes your event. You can display the candles on the main buffet for guests to take away and the end of the party.

Smaller Hurricanes

Create a monochromatic look. Fill the hurricanes with pine cones or peppermint candies. Greenery can be cut from a Christmas tree or wreath that fell apart. Christmas tree lots will give you extra pieces of greenery that they cut off trees. Your house will smell good too!

Place Settings

Take a regular place setting, wrap a large pretty wired ribbon around it and tie a bow. You can set the table with whatever you want…pine cones with glitter on them or painted walnuts. You are not limited to one color. You can coordinate your place setting with whatever else you have. Again, think reuse!

Small Bottles

Use champagne or sparkling cider bottles on the tables. You can tie a snowflake around the bottles which can be a place card. Guests can take them home as party favors and the snowflake can be used as an ornament…double duty! Bonus points for painting the bottles.

Centerpieces

You don’t have to have a big flower arrangement as a centerpiece. Carmel apples can serve as a centerpiece, dessert and party favor.

Reindeer Food

The kids will love this! Mix oatmeal and glitter and place in small plastic bags. These are great party favors that the kids can scatter on the grass to feed Santa’s reindeer.

Big Take Away – The Possibilities Are Endless

These are just some ideas that can make your holiday party a success, but there are endless possibilities. With a little creativity, your family and friends will find your holiday celebration to be one they won’t want to ever miss. Think fun and festive!
