A stunning table sets the mood for your reception!
Once you start planning a wedding, it’s non-stop decisions right from the get-go! You have to pick a date, a venue, what to wear, what to eat, how it will look, who to invite. Or more important, who not to invite! Thank goodness you’ve already decided who to marry. Check that off the list! Once you’ve made some decisions — or at least chosen, say, the venue — you can move on to the fun stuff like deciding your wedding table decorations. Yes, more decisions!
If you don’t quite know where to begin, that’s what The Party Goddess! is for. I’m here to help give you ideas and inspiration. I plan ridiculously fabulous events, each with a different look and feel. And I’m happy to share some of my faves with you so you can make your own event just as fab, just as unique.
Conversation starter: Gorgeous wedding table decorations
Don’t you love that moment when you take your seat at an event only to discover that you don’t know anyone else at the table? Yeah, me neither. Not that this will happen at your wedding. But if it were, why not give your guests an easy conversation starter while they anxiously wait for someone to arrive with drinks. A striking centerpiece or dramatically set table can always generate a few comments from even the most conversationally challenged guest. They’ll chat about how wonderful everything looks. Then the drinks arrive (finally!), people move on to talk about how beautiful the bride is, and discuss how everyone first met the couple. Next they discover they have a friend in common. And that they all love pizza. The party’s officially in full swing! And it all started with your amazing centerpieces.
This week, we shared a number of different wedding table decorations with very different looks. A couple of them had a two-toned palette and incorporated fruit, which is not only striking, but an inexpensive way to put some contrast and texture on the table. Then there was a succulent centerpiece with an edgy touch. A gold toned table and a wedding with blush and muted tones that combined understated colors displayed in a very dramatic fashion. And a shimmery, candle-lit table at a beach wedding. Each look was unique. Hopefully you can find some inspiration in the photos we shared this week.
Where to find The Party Goddess! ideas galore?
If you’ve been one of my loyal blog followers, you know that we publish these image roundups weekly. We feature a particular event for a particular client so you can go deep on the particular theme. If you know what’s up, skip this part. New visitors, take a look below…
In case you missed it, here’s what we’re doing, mentioned in the first blog. (And if you already know what’s going on, skip to the first photo!) Every day we’re posting event photos & inspiration to my Instagram page to give you ideas for your own events. And, of course, to encourage you to hire yours truly, wedding coordinator extraordinaire, for your next soirée! In terms of format, we’re trying to capitalize on the whole hashtag calendar world and take advantage of #WeddingWednesday (#WW) and #ThrowbackThursday (#TBT) by posting wedding photos and cool stuff we’ve done on Wednesdays and on Thursdays, harkening back to a past client’s event, be it a celebrity, or just one of us tastemakers.
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Monday:
Look how simple this centerpiece is! As long as tangerines and kumquats are in season, you can recreate this yourself. Gerbera daisies and roses make a simple bouquet and the fruit holds the stems in place. Make it interesting by using some modern-shaped glass vases. Seriously, this couldn’t be simpler! Easy peasy lemon squeezy! Or maybe that should be orange squeezy?
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Tuesday:
If flowers and traditionally feminine decor aren’t your thing, you’re going to love what this couple did for their wedding table decorations! Inspired by art pieces they liked, they created a different tableau on each table (sounds even better when you pronounce “table” as if you’re speaking French). They used succulents instead of flowers. And then selected a variety of textures and materials — wood, agate, metal, glass — to create an edgy, artistic look. And how’s this for a convo starter? Instead of numbers, the tables were named after streets significant to the couple. The whole look was très chic!
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Wednesday:
Who would ever think that pale shades could ever make such a statement? But look at this gorgeous table! Pink and ivory flowers with gold sprays of wheat and blush. Gold overlays with pink underneath. This is one way to do wedding table decorations that will wow! Happy #WeddingWednesday!
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Thursday:
Fruit and flowers… so easy! Who’d have thought? On Monday, we showed you similar wedding table decorations, but in different colors. These are from a different palette, but are just as beautiful. And even more striking because of the contrasting colors. Use vases of different heights to mix it up and you’ve got an inexpensive, statement-making arrangement. #TBT
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Friday:
All that glitters is gold. I just loved this glittery table with gold little favor boxes! These gold tablecloths are a great way to glam up any room. Almost anything you put on this table will look great and stand out when you have a sparkly tablecloth as a canvas. Gold definitely makes a statement, but it’s an easy neutral to work with. So start with that as your base and you can do anything you want!
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Saturday:
This photo is from a beach wedding that was right on the sand. As dusk approached, candlelight mingled with the pink sunset and it was gorgeous! When you have the ocean as a backdrop, you don’t have to do too much to make the setting beautiful. But these flowers worked nicely, as did the rest of their wedding table decorations. They were lush and colorful and stood out against the crisp white cloths. Delicate beach-themed glass ornaments — hand painted for the couple — awaited each guest as a take-home remembrance of the day. I’m sure everyone will toast the couple when they pull these out this December!
