Relax! It’s your wedding day! How to make the jitters go away!

So much planning, preparation and anticipation go into a wedding. A thousand decisions, so many details to think of, and tons of stress to get it all done — and to do it the way you want. (Not to mention the way your fiancé wants, and your family, and your out-of-town visitors, and his family, and on and on!) And finally, the day is here! No big deal, nothing to stress about. It’s only your WEDDING DAY! Calgon, take me away!! (Google that one if I’ve lost you.)

Most brides are pretty involved in the details of planning their wedding, even when they hire an event planner like me. So how do you switch gears from super involved party hostess — as in Did you notice the wedding favors are little pots of jam with personalized labels? I made the jam myself with fruit I hand picked on my vacation this summer! — to guest of honor who can relax, enjoy the party and spend time with her guests?

Ahhh, enjoying your wedding day. That’s kind of a challenge for many a bride. But if you’re getting married, it’s a challenge worth meeting. Because it’s just one day and it’ll be over before you know it! When you look back on it, you’ll want to remember having fun with the people who were there, and feeling pleased about how all your planning came together to make the day even more special. Oh, and a little swooning at the sight of your beloved is good too!

Start the day right: R&R with your BFFs!

Nervous? Not yet? Just you wait! You might not be anxious about the actual getting married part. But there’s something about the wedding day itself — the beauty prep, the gorgeous wedding dress, all the attention — to give even the most steely-nerved bride the jitters. To help with that, enlist the services and support of your bridesmaids and friends. Get ready together! Have them there for your hair & makeup session, even if you’re doing it all yourself. You’ll enjoy the girlfriend time and they’ll distract you from thinking too much about the events to come!

It’s your wedding day! What to wear? I know you’ve got that fabulous dress and your bridesmaids have some lovely frocks as well. But those are for later! In the meantime, how about decking out your bridal party in these adorable robes, complete with embroidery? These will make a fun and useful keepsake long after your wedding!

It takes some serious behind-the-scenes effort to look effortlessly gorgeous! Spend the day getting ready for your wedding with your bridal party. It’ll be like prepping for prom all over again. No one will make you feel relaxed and at ease like your besties can. And no one else needs to see you in hot rollers that day. (That’s reserved for after your wedding day when The Party Goddess! shares the photo online!) #TBT

Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Friday:

“Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.” If there’s any special jewelry in your family that you love, your wedding day is the day to wear it! Not only is this a traditional wedding custom, it’s a lovely way to honor the older generations. You can remember a beloved family member or pay tribute to the happy marriage of the person who wore the jewelry before you. Besides, who doesn’t love wearing more jewelry?!

Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Saturday:

Gorgeous wedding hair. Check! Heirloom jewelry. Check! Phone to secretly text groom before ceremony. Check! Drink to hydrate before festivities begin. Check! Looks like you’re all ready for your wedding day. Now, all you have to do is relax, stay calm and marry on!
