It’s YOUR wedding! Plan a ceremony that’s personal & perfectly You!

Getting married is a momentous event. It’s not every day that you promise to share your entire future with someone else. Your entire weekend or taco platter, maybe. But not your entire future! And since the idea is that you won’t be making that promise again, you want to make sure you get it right. I totally did make that promise again — twice actually! — so who better to give you advice on how to get the day right than someone who’s had lots of practice? That would be moi! Plus, it’s kind of what I do as The Party Goddess!, which means I’ve seen it done every which way. The good news is, as long as your wedding ceremony reflects you as a couple, it will totally work, whichever way you do it!

Where to begin? Location! Location! Start with your location and go from there. Chances are, your venue will set the tone for your ceremony, whether it’s formal and traditional, or not so much. The couple featured in the photo with the lake had a less-than-traditional wedding ceremony and reception. And it was fabulous! The setting was stunning: next to a shimmery lake under the trees, nature in all its splendor as the backdrop. After the ceremony, the reception was full of fun and quirky touches that the bride and groom chose themselves. The day had a personal feel because it reflected the couple’s personalities perfectly. (These were the people who had Koozies as wedding favors and pulled it off in a really classy way! Your trip to the altar doesn’t have to lead to an actual altar!

I do love a nice church wedding! Something about the reverent atmosphere, the pews, the walk to the altar. However, it’s not necessarily for everyone. In fact, I probably plan more non-church weddings than anything else. Pretty much any kind of venue can work for your special day. As long as you make it feel special, it will be.

This week, we shared a number of different wedding ceremony photos to get you inspired. There was a backyard poolside ceremony; a beautiful church; an arch made of brambles, covered in spectacular flowers; a ceremony with a darling little dog in attendance; and a beach wedding to die for! All were as varied as the couples getting married… and all were perfectly, totally “Them.”

If you don’t quite know where to begin, that’s what The Party Goddess! is for. I’m here to help give you ideas and inspiration. I plan ridiculously fabulous events, each with a different look and feel. And I’m happy to share some of my faves with you so you can make your own event just as fab, just as unique.

Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Monday:

It doesn’t get more personal and intimate than getting married at home. Invite your nearest and dearest to witness and celebrate your start together. This couple chose a beautiful rustic-looking arch as a frame behind them and with the pool in front of them, it felt as though they were on an altar. Saying “I do” at home means you get to pick the date and just about everything else! Just make sure that if you have a pool, you don’t hand out rice!

I love a church wedding! There’s something nice about a formal, solemn wedding ceremony… followed by an awesomely fun reception!

Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Wednesday:

At the heart of every wedding ceremony is the exchange of vows and rings. It’s what marks the transition of the couple being engaged to actually married. And it nearly always brings on a few tears from the happy guests. Happy #WeddingWednesday!

Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Thursday:

What do you think of this amazing altar? #LOVE! So fab! Behind all those spectacular displays of flowers is an arch made of intertwined branches and brambles. The contrast of rustic and chic was perfect. Flowy white fabric, crystal chandeliers and blooms galore made a truly special setting for this couple’s wedding ceremony. #TBT

Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Friday:

If you love the beach and you can pull it off, a beach wedding ceremony is the best! By nature, it’s not super formal, but it’s guaranteed to be super beautiful! And that’s before you do a single thing in the way of decorations or flowers. Because when you have the ocean as a backdrop, you don’t have to do too much to make the setting beautiful. This couple chose a gorgeous arch that was covered in colorful flowers. It made the perfect spot to exchange vows!

Pets in weddings! Umm, yes! It’s one of the trends that I mentioned in the International Wedding Trend Report. With a cute bowtie, this guy’s all dressed up in his party best and ready to go! When it’s your wedding, if you want your dog there… well, who’s going to say no?
