Save room for dessert! These confections are delectably delicious!
One of these days, it’ll cool off just enough to think about turning on the oven. I promise. And when it does, I’ll be ready with my apron, spatula and some chilled champagne to keep it festive — and to help me keep my cool. In case you haven’t guessed, I’m talking about baking, which none of us have probably done since Spring. Or maybe ever… and it’s perfectly OK if you fall into that category. That’s what bakeries are for and someone needs to keep them in business. However, if you do like to impress your friends or SO with a sweet something made from scratch once in a while, we’re offering up some inspiration this week in the form of gorgeous plated desserts that you can totally copy.
Plated desserts almost too pretty to eat!
Of course, you can also pretend that the inspiration and design were all yours. Pretty sure there’s no such thing as plagiarism when it comes to food. That’s why we have recipes. Food blogs. Pinterest! This is the era of sharing — and over sharing. If someone has an idea, sees a sunset, or just happens to make avocado toast fit for a photo shoot, they’re practically expected to snap a pic and post it. With a clever caption, of course. Right? Then all their friends can respond with “toast goals” comments. If that all sounds like way too much effort, you can pretend you spent hours making these stunning plated desserts yourself — I like to call it “faked from scratch” — when in fact you bought them, then fooled everyone with your mad icing and garnishing talent. And pulling that off takes some skill!
Where to find The Party Goddess! ideas galore?
If you’ve been one of my loyal blog followers, you know that we publish these image roundups weekly. We feature a particular event for a particular client so you can go deep on the particular theme. If you know what’s up, skip this part. New visitors, take a look below…
In case you missed it, here’s what we’re doing, mentioned in the first blog. (And if you already know what’s going on, skip to the first photo!) Every day we’re posting event photos & inspiration to my Instagram page to give you ideas for your own events. And, of course, to encourage you to hire yours truly, one of the top event planning companies, for your next soirée! In terms of format, we’re trying to capitalize on the whole hashtag calendar world and take advantage of #WeddingWednesday (#WW) and #ThrowbackThursday (#TBT) by posting wedding photos and cool stuff we’ve done on Wednesdays and on Thursdays, harkening back to a past client’s event, be it a celebrity, or just one of us tastemakers.
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Monday:
Here’s a shout-out to my Irish & English friends who miss those famous Mikado biscuits from their youth. Don’t know what they are? They’re soft biscuits with dainty little marshmallows, coconut & jam on top. These are a high-brow version… perfect with tea!
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Tuesday:
Worried that your heavenly angel food cake won’t look so divine? Top it off with sprigs of fresh lavender and sneak a little lavender essence into some whipped cream. Heaven!
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Wednesday:
Who knew a tiered bundt cake could look so elegant? A homemade cake with generous “home style” frosting gets an instant style upgrade when it’s stacked and garnished with pretty blooms. Nothing homely about this cake! Happy #WeddingWednesday!
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Thursday:
When it comes to garnish, think beyond parsley… not that you would ever! I adore the deep shades of these violets. They make any dessert almost too pretty to eat! #TBT
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Friday:
Not every cake demands frosting. Your friends eating it might, but they don’t always know what’s best! Don’t be afraid to serve your dessert naked, so to speak. As long as you give it some good accessories, no one will notice or care that it’s bare! #TGIF
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Saturday:
Drizzled icing, a layer of lavender, mint or edible flowers and no one will know that this cake isn’t homemade. Or is it…?
