Are You Ready For Some Football?
Well, the actual game of football is really not my thing. I hate to admit it because I was a cheerleader, but when the word “football” comes to mind, I tend to think of how challenged I am with the sport. As a cheerleader, I just followed the cues, smiled and nodded. Not much else to it, right? Add the word “PARTY” after “football”…and now we’re talkin’! This top-notch event planner is all in!
In a little “throwback Tuesday/Thursday something post”, I figured I’d share DIY party tips to get you ready for the upcoming super bowl in a segment clip I did for The Balancing Act. Enjoy!
Here’s The Clip Where I Cover Party Ideas For The Big Game:
Here’s a summary of the tips from the clip. Take them and make them your own.
3 DIY Football Party Tips:
1. Food
Appetizers are the perfect food for football fans. One of the biggest mistakes you can make as a hostess is timing. Really pay attention to the length of your party. How long will your cocktail hour be? What about the length of the actual event? The last thing you want is for your guests to eat too many apps and not be hungry for the great spread you have planned for dinner. And, it would be even worse to run out of food! You can’t go wrong with Don Miguel’s taquitos, mini tacos and empañadas. The best part is the prep time is a snap! It’s soooo easy to zap them in the oven and lay them out on your best party platter.

Go with a Mexican theme. Your decor is a no-brainer.
- Serape or Mexican blanket as a tablecloth
- Mexican or football themed platters and bowls
- Colorful dried beans
- Peppers
- Shot glasses and tequila (gotta have it!)
- Margarita glasses for dips and sides
3. Personalize Your Event
- Make your homemade secret-recipe guacamole and salsa
- Use football-shaped cards to label foods
- Make football-shaped place cards
