Not your Grandma’s wedding! Skip the old, plenty of new, something borrowed, a suit that’s blue!
Are you planning a wedding? Being engaged is pure bliss, isn’t it — what with everyone around you keeping their unsolicited advice to themselves? HA! Something about a wedding seems to bring out people’s judgy, here’s-how-I-would-do-it side. Everyone has opinions about what traditions you should follow and the kind of taste you should have. (Theirs, just to clarify.) Don’t get me started on the opinions of the people who are NOT the ones getting married! I’ve heard more than my share of them in my days as an event planner. “What do you mean you’re not having white flowers? You’ll be wearing a wrap over that dress won’t you? You’re not going to have her as a bridesmaid? Hmm… I’m not sure that’s something Martha Stewart would do.” Oy vey! What’s a post–Emily Post/Martha Stewart, modern, urban glam kind of couple to do?
Well, for starters, ignore all the opinions you don’t like! And then, do what you want! Because it’s your wedding! Dammit! So there.
Embrace your urban glam style!
This week, we’re sharing some cool photos of a perfectly stylish urban glam couple and a bridesmaid who might have been told to cover up in an earlier decade. (Or, let’s be honest, even three years ago anywhere outside of Seattle.) The bride’s dress is stunning and sexy. The groom’s suit is an awesome shade of blue. And the bridesmaid looks gorgeous in her dress, even as it shows her tattoos. (Gasp!) If your taste runs more boho meets edgy than it does Emily Post meets Martha Stewart, I think you’ll like this week’s photos. You might even find some inspiration for bucking tradition at your own upcoming wedding. And in case you’re wondering, the gowns are from Watters, the suit is from Stitch and Tie, and you can find the jewelry at Trumpet and Horn. Check them out!

Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Monday:
A delicate strapless dress with a little ink showing? No biggie. The contrast is beautiful and so is this bridesmaid! Old rules don’t apply, so dress your besties however you want. It’s your day, make your own rules!
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Tuesday:
I love a man in a sharply tailored suit! (Even if he is getting married to someone else.) This groom wanted something he’d wear again that reflected his own style. Since blue is the new black, this was perfect! I also love the French cuffs & cufflinks. They go really well with his Manhattan. Très beau!
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Wednesday:
Classic, yet hip. Not a lot of demure, plenty of sexy! What a great look for a striking couple with urban glam style! Happy #WeddingWednesday!
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Thursday:
Whether you’ve got Henna tattoos or yours are the real deal, this dress will show them off! #TBT
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Friday:
Old, new, borrowed, blue. This fantastic suit takes care of two of those. As for old and borrowed, let the bride handle that! Maybe someone will “loan” her some vintage jewelry. That would make a nice wedding gift! #TGIF
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Saturday:
A dress as simple as this calls for something different when it comes to flowers. No need to be traditional. Go for something dramatic and modern. These large blooms with long stems look amazing! Don’t you think?
