The Original Gangster of Food Trucks: Pink’s Hot Dogs

What started as a pushcart stand on the corner of Melrose and La Brea has turned into a worldwide phenomenon. Tourists, celebrities, and locals alike wrap around the humble hotdog joint, standing in line for hours at a time just to get a taste of the famous chilidogs.

The original hot dog stand began in 1939 and has since grown to include regulars such as Oprah Winfrey and Hugh Hefner. One glance at the menu and you’ll know which toppings the aforementioned celebrities prefer on their dogs, as their specific concoctions have landed a permanent spot on the menu. The “Martha Stewart Dog” is topped with relish, onions, bacon, chopped tomatoes, sauerkraut and sour cream. We had no idea Martha took bacon with her hot dogs.

Pink’s has recently opened two new locations in Las Vegas and Universal City Walk and continues to offer its catering services to private parties that demand the hotdogs without the wait. The potential of a single food truck with a good product and better marketing is mind-blowing!
