Engagement Party of Your Dreams!

You’ve just got engaged! You are no doubt excited and nervous all at the same time, but more than ready to plan a beautiful and memorable engagement party for you and your loved ones.  Don’t let the details and dollar signs get you all stressed out. With all the choices you have to make, including invitations, flowers, menu options, guest presents as well as a hundred other things, it may get a bit overwhelming. But don’t fret.

Let us show you how to throw the engagement party of your dreams without burning a hole in your pocket while still capturing that million dollar look.

Does The Party Venue Have To Cost $$$$? While the Four Seasons’ in Maui might be a stellar choice to host your party, the cost can be stratospheric.  Some of the most beautiful locations that my client’s have had their parties at, have been found through simply asking friends and colleagues if they would offer their home or business for a few hours.  Many people would never think to do that, but why not? A beautiful space is just that, and you can save a lot of money in the process.

What Time Are Your Guests Arriving? Throw your party between the hours of 1pm and 5pm. During these times, guests won’t expect to be served a full meal.  Turn it into a fun cocktail party and serve an assortment of hors d’oeuvres, to save money.

How Will You Make Your Event Memorable? If you are a kid at heart, pick a fun and colorful theme such as a French inspired circus.  You can forgo the flowers and buy inexpensive and fabulously colored feathers to create beautiful centerpieces. Simple bold pieces can make a big statement.

Don’t Forget A Signature Drink! Following up on the theme, create a fun cocktail that matches the colors used throughout party. For one of Majcher’s celebrity events, she created this cobalt blue drink. Be sure to give a fun and spunky name to whatever you create! Your guests will love it.

Just Dessert! A candy or dessert buffet works double time as both a beautiful décor accessory and as a delicious party favor. And while an impressive display requires A LOT of candy, you don’t have to spend a lot of money. Buy assorted colored candy in bulk and have some fun. It is much less about calculating a “per-person” amount and more about creating an amazing focal point, or as event planners like to call it “The WOW Factor.”

* When providing a candy bar, don’t forget about the guests that don’t eat sugar. Make sure to provide sugar-free sweets so that everyone can enjoy.

A Show Stopper! Using simple black beans and coarse salt to create a beautiful design such as a fleur de lis will absolutely stop people in their tracks. This is a very inexpensive way of creating art that will be talked about for a long long time.

Are Dishes Always Required? You don’t always need to rent dishes for your party.  To save money, create your menu around food that guests can easily eat with their hands. A unique skewer presentation tying into your theme will add to the overall wow! factor.

That Finishing Touch! Have fun and save money by dressing up your staff.  Carrying your theme through the whole party, right down to the servers will certainly be recognized by your guests. Continuing with the French inspired circus party that Majcher produced, she had the staff wear masks that you can easily recreate. Include your friends and family in this arts and crafts extravaganza that will leave everyone smiling and happy.  It’s all in those little details.
