D.C. Travelogue: B-School, TV Shows & Cupcakes!

I decided that since I’m on the road so much, I’d start sharing my travelogue on Vodka & Donuts. What can I say? Last week’s trip to DC was amazing although I kind of felt like I had just wrapped the most intense round of finals ever, considering how WIPED I was when I got home!

1 last-minute TV appearance. And we know all about that little whirlwind! (If you don’t, you can catch the video of the very cool segment I got to do on Good Morning Washington), 2 classes at Georgetown University, and many VERY overdue catch ups with old friends.

Late Night Target Run

It all started with me getting off the airplane and heading straight to Target before they closed, in order to pick up supplies for the morning show I was about to be a guest on. Was this part of the plan when I got on the plane in Los Angeles? NO! I found out when I arrived that I was to demonstrate Easter party tips on Good Morning Washington.

Then, I almost didn’t make it to the studio on time! If you want to hear more about that snafu, you can check out my blog The Peeps TV Special That Almost Didn’t Happen!

Full Day Of Fun

After I left the studio, I met up with my dear friend and professor Derek Leebaert at The CakeRoom Bakery as a little pre-Georgetown University B-School sugar fix.

Derek was the one who encouraged me to write But Are You Making Any Money?. Not only does he mean the world to me, he knows about my insatiable sweet tooth. Which is why we ended up at an adorable bakery buying all of this…

I can’t believe how much the D.C. food scene has changed; it just keeps getting better and better! After a day at my alma mater, a martini was in order so we stopped off at Bobby Van’s on 15th for drinks (of course!) before another full day at the university.

Goddesses Cannot Live On Cupcakes Alone

So, there were a couple of amazing dinners during the trip. We went to Kapnos Taverna in Arlington one evening. Exquisite food! There was also a night out at El Centro, which might just be the most badass taqueria I’ve been too (and that’s saying alot since I live in California!). One of the other places I should mention is Cusp in Georgetown, which doesn’t actually serve food, but does serve up plenty of candy in the form of retail therapy!!

So there you have it! Until my next trip, signing off from the Goddess Travelogue.
