The Peeps TV Special That Almost Didn’t Happen!

The Peeps TV Special That Almost Didn't Happen!

Just got back from D.C. In a typical episode of “be careful what you wish for,” I’d asked my publicist if she could get me a TV appearance while I’m in town. It wasn’t until after I’d stayed up half the night, and just before I caught an early flight did I get the message that YES! I’d be appearing on Good Morning Washington to demonstrate how to make Easter treats in the morning! Say WHAT?!

If you didn’t see the video of me at Target scrambling to come up with how the heyllll I was going to make what was promised, check that tape out! I knew I could demonstrate my Easter Munch (a.k.a. Easter Crack) which everyone loves, but I wanted to come up with something using marshmallow Peeps too!

Peeps To The Rescue

Thankfully my hotel room has a microwave! I got all of these supplies at Target and brought them back to the dormitorio for a little pre-bedtime baking!

The Peeps TV Special That Almost Didn't Happen!Yeah, there’s nothing like cooking with your hotel microwave.
(I don’t even wanna KNOW what housekeeping thinks I was doing with that butter!)

Dress Rehearsal In The Hotel Room

Turns out, now that Peeps come in a range of colors like green, blue, and purple in addition to the standard pink and yellow, you can melt those bad boys down and make some super cute and colorful Rice Krispie Treats simply by melting Peeps in the micro with a little butter, and mixing them with the cereal.

Showtime Snafu!

After all of this, I almost didn’t make the show! The show time had changed in one of the emails flying around that we didn’t catch, but in the end, it all worked out and I really do still love, love, love Diane my publicist! Once that was sorted out, taping the show with Julie was a total blast! Watch the video of us making baskets for the Peeps Rice Krispie Treat “Pops” and attempting some hard boiled egg unicorns! There’s still more to come from D.C. so stay tuned!
