Let’s Show Mom A little Love! Are You With Me?
We’re shifting gears here as we take different concepts that we’ve done for celebrities and show you how to apply them to Mother’s Day. The video includes ideas for Memorial Day, but we’ll save that for another day. Let’s focus on mom since Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and we know that she more than deserves some TLC!
In a little “throwback Tuesday/Thursday something post”, I figured I’d share party trends from some of my favorite celebrities which you can easily apply to Mother’s Day in a segment clip I did for The Better Show. Stay tuned!
Here’s The Clip Where I Cover Mother’s Day Ideas Inspired By Top Celebrities:
Here’s a summary of the tips from the clip. Take them and make them your own.
Celebrity Trends Turned Into Mother’s Day Ideas:
1. Champagne & Fresh Fruit
Pierce & Keely Brosnan, two of my all-time favorite clients, spend a ton of time in Hawaii, so they always have fresh flowers and fresh fruit at their parties. Find out what mom’s favorite fresh fruits are and incorporate them into your Mother’s Day brunch. Maybe set up a mocktail bar. Have the kids participate to make it fun. And what’s a brunch without champagne? Use straws in mini champagne bottles. Keep it colorful and fresh!
2. Super Festive Metallics
Sofia Vergara is huge with metallics, and we went all out with silver and gold for her holiday event. Personally, I think that you can never have too many sequins or bling! For mom, maybe she likes to dress up. Make Mother’s Day a formal event. The idea here is to adopt the metallic idea in any way that makes mom happy!
3. Simple Instead Of Fancy
Britney Spears is totally down home and casual. You don’t have to be fancy on Mother’s Day. Tone it down a notch if mom is a little more comfortable with being more casual. Tell mom to stay in her PJs and serve a simple breakfast in bed!
Kelly Preston is big on supporting charities and being environmentally conscious! Stay away from disposable plastic and go eco-friendly with bamboo. It’s really not particularly expensive. Bamboo steamers are very functional. Take off the top and put flowers in the base for a great centerpiece. Instead of paper napkins, use bandanas. They are super inexpensive if you order them online and reusable for maybe even a different purpose. Throw them in the wash – no prob!

5. Animal Lovers
Katherine Heigl is huge with her dogs. They have to be part of her event. If mom is close with your pet, find a way to incorporate your dog or cat into her special day. Maybe have a snack bar or buffet set up for your pet. Another idea is to have a pet dress up station stocked with a tiara, sunglasses and other fun props. Take photos and share them on Instagram.
Jennifer Love Hewitt had us plan a Halloween party for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. She was all about the kids and the candy bar. I have an incredible sweet tooth, and all I’m saying is that if my children showed up at my bedside on Mother’s Day with a bubble gum bar, I’d be ecstatic! If you’re tired of candy, just go all bubble gum or all chocolate. I would take any of the above!
Bonus – Mother’s Day Gift Ideas
- Bake a cupcake in a cute teacup or put a fun gift (maybe even lingerie) in it for mom.
- Rather than just using a standard vase, present flowers in rain boots. Win/win…Mom not only gets beautiful flowers, she gets a great gift as well.
- If your mom is anything like me, I’m obsessed with stationery items. I seriously can’t get enough washi tape! Package stationery products in a fun zipper pouch.
Big Take Away – Focus On Mom
In the end, Mother’s Day is all about mom. Decide what makes her happy. What would she enjoy and appreciate on her special day. Incorporate mom’s favorite things into the day and there’s no way that you can go wrong!
