February is for lovers! Or is that Virginia? I think it’s both. Anyway, I’m not writing about Virginia this month because, well, I live in California. Nuff said! And besides, it’s Valentine’s Day this month! What a lovely, sweet, lovey dovey day we get in February to perk us up during the holiday drought that comes after the New Year. Now some of you are probably in the throes of planning the mother of all Valentine’s dates, which might even include a marriage proposal. If that’s you, good luck with that! Check back with me here to share some details of how it went — I’d love to hear from you! But for the rest of you (which includes me too), this week I’m sharing some simple, ways to say ‘I love you’ to your loved one… or ones. That’s in case you have kids. (What did you think I meant?)

Surprising your Valentine doesn’t have to put you into overdraft territory, especially if you’re still recovering from over-surprising them with lavish gifts at Christmas. What? Noooo, never! How about going old school for a change? Let 99 Cents Only Stores come to the rescue! Rediscover the charm of the candy you had when you were a kid… on a charm bracelet. Super cute, super cheap! Chocolate is everywhere right now (awesome, I know! #IHeartFebruary!), so you should be able to find just about anything you’re in the mood for: playful, cute, decadent, delicate or kinda corny. I’m going for playful. It suits my mood and works for my special Valentine cuties! Did you see the candy ring photo?
If you want to celebrate all week and make it more of a V-day experience (or should that be V-week?), give your Valentine a little gift or do something special each day. You’ll have them swooning all week long! Of all the ways to say ‘I love you’, nothing does it quite like a pair of big red foil chocolate lips! Super classy don’t you think? Your sweetheart will be the coolest Valentine on the block when they show up (at work?) with this stunning number! It’s colorful, simple and it’s bound to be original. A charming charm bracelet to start off Valentine’s week is perfect. And as the afternoon wears on, if they need a little pick-me-up, their sugar fix is right there on their wrist. Sweet!

Time to get crafty! I just love me a DIY project and this one’s perfect for Valentine’s Day. Take a string of bulb lights and make little “shades” with upside down cupcake wrappers. Voilà! Instant mood lighting! Genius! Go crazy with the designs! Hearts, swirls, polka dots, stripes, pink & red… it’s a great way to make use of those cute wrappers you bought if you like the idea of baking more than you like actual baking.

For the Super Bowl, we had fun pilsner glasses you could write on. Well here’s another way to never confuse whose glass is whose. They’re permanently his & hers, or yours & mine, however you want to look at it. Enjoy a cheeky toast on Valentine’s Day to celebrate your sweetheart, your loved ones, your good friends, whoever’s special to you. Are you having a wedding soon? Do you like my new lipstick? Groooaan! Terrible, I know, but I had to say it! If I didn’t someone else would have. Come to think of it, a new lipstick in a fab red would be a pretty good gift for Valentine’s Day. But I’ll settle for this pair of candy lips. They look perfectly luscious. And they fit nicely with this week’s Valentine picks that are sweet and cheap! Enjoy your trip to the dollar store! #TBT!

We’re back with another set of cupcake cafe lights. Add a little scissors action and you can turn them into flowers. Keep these up after Valentine’s Day for romantic mood lighting all month!

“Be mine! Je t’adore! Te amo! Don’t eat this all at once! Will you marry me? You deserve the best! Hey, are you going to eat that all by yourself?” Wow, there are so many things you can say when you give this ring to that someone special. The list just goes on! Ok, maybe don’t say those things about eating the ring, but everything else is very romantic. Who wouldn’t love flashing this cocktail ring around to show off just how much they’re loved! Because after all, it’s the thought…
