XETV SD 6 Anti-Valentine’s Show Notes

Just finished a delightful taping with XETV SD 6 on Anti-Valentine’s. Whether you’re married, dating, single, divorced, widowed or “it’s complicated”, Valentine’s Day is the one day you should spend time with the person(s) you love. Make this Valentine’s Day about creating a memorable day regardless or your “couple status”. Valentine’s Day lands on a Sunday this year, so check out these tips from The Party Goddess! for throwing a fabulous Anti-Valentine’s Party! You never know, if you are single, you could find your match…that is of course if you are looking. So if you missed out on the show, don’t worry here are the tips once again!

TIPS:
* Keep it light. Choose white! There are many references to white, often related to purity and cleanness, so keep the tone of your party light and not so depressing! Add a splash of color, like the traditional red or hot pink to spice up the mood. Speaking of light, hang clear or red Christmas lights throughout the house for a warm glow and inviting home. Incorporate some black, as it’s the traditional Anti-Valentine color. Use these swanky zebra-print reusable bags as a non-traditional way to display flowers, then let your guests take home!

* Heart healthy. Do yourself a favor and eat something healthy, rather than the usual fatty snack foods found at every party. Beans, peas and lentils are so nutritious, naturally high in protein and fiber and low in fat. For a really, quick and easy solution, pick up Camellia Brand Red Beans & Rice. Your guests will never know you made these in the microwave 5 minutes before they showed up at your door! They come in a to-go version, which is great for on the run, but you can open a few containers and serve in fun, colorful and unique shaped bowls, like the funky zebra print to match the reusable bags.

* Center of attention. To spice up the décor and add to your theme, incorporate some unique and unconventional items to display throughout your home. This doesn’t mean you have to spend a fortune, (although it will look like you did!) just swing by T.J. Maxx or Marshalls and visit the home décor section where you’ll find some really affordable options to deck out your party! Try this desk organizer, why not put some fresh fruit in each compartment. Or a colorful recycled box for napkins. And while you’re at it, use this 3-stacked bowl, which is supposed to be used as a shower caddy, as a way to display sweet treats for your guests!

* Stop sulking! And pull the board games out! This is such a great way to break the ice with strangers and have a laugh while you’re at it. My personal favorite is Taboo, you’re guaranteed to bust at the seams with this one! This is something fun that friends can do together, since marriages last only 50% of the time but good friendships last forever! And since diamonds are a girl’s best friend, use these giant faux diamonds as place settings and let your guests take home to use as a paperweight!

* Match made in Heaven. Kiss-off the standard box of chocolates and raise your glasses to the all-natural combination of 100 percent mint, pure water with cocoa essence.  This refreshingly decadent taste will leave your guests saying goodbye to their box of chocolates and Valentine’s Day promises and hello to the guilt-free, luxurious enjoyment and refreshment of MetroMint Chocolatemint Water! Serve over ice in a variety of fun shaped glasses with light-up ice cubes. For those who would like to enjoy a fun cocktail, try Strawberry Kiss or American Psycho. Serve in a tall glass jug and pour into small sugar rimmed baby tumblers for another sweet treat!
