I just returned from a much needed vacation in Bermuda. It was my first time there and boy what fun! Bermudans have tremendous pride in their small island. The houses are brightly colored sorbet numbers that seem constantly tended to. In a place surrounded by water (the definition of an island, no kidding) you would think that the elements would take their toll. Not in Bermuda, they stay on top of their maintenance routines!
Maintenance aside, after a long and very stressful day of snorkeling, there was nothing I looked forward to more than a traditional Rum Swizzle. This drink is mainly made of rum, oj, pineapple juice and grenadine syrup. Perfect for a sweets loving Party Goddess. Go to http://www.drinksmixer.com/drink1198.html to find a pretty good recipe. As I was about to write this blog on Bermuda, I came across another great article in the Wall Street Journal (the Saturday/Sunday, September 2-3, 2006) edition which has a great little story on Bermuda and another fabulous drink, the Dark and Stormy. The WSJ gives the ingredients as 1-1/2 oz Gosling’s Black Seal rum and 4 to 6 oz Barritt’s ginger beer. Both of them sound so good, l think I will have to celebrate our American Labor Day with a little rum drink of choice. Maybe you should try one too. Cheers!
