OK, here’s a very cool website for you to check out, the brainchild of my buddy, Craig Ouellette:
Trespassing On The Lot. You need to see it for yourself to get the whole thing but here’s the skinny:
A year ago, FOX premiered a show called “On the Lot”. It was an American
Idol style show for 50 filmmakers to duke it out, making a short film each week, as America cast votes to decide who would get a $1,000,000 development deal from Dreamworks and Steven Spielberg. Brendon Fong and Craig Ouellette had submitted their films to the show and were not chosen, so rather than throw in the towel, they decided to do the weekly film challenges and keep pace with the show, posting their results at Trespassing On The Lot.
Over the summer they made 12 films in 15 weeks with the goal of showing that you don't have to have a lot of money or resources to make entertaining films. Ranging the gamut from Comedy to Horror, Action to Abstract, and even shooting in places as far away as Russia, the films are a unique blend of low-budget savy and intuitive storytelling.
Even though the show “On The Lot” was cancelled after it’s first season,
Brendon and Craig have decided to continue on making the short films in
their own “Season 2” of Trespassing on the lot. So come on by and enjoy
sneaking in the side door of Hollywood. This is your chance to check out
these films so when their names are on the posters at the multiplexes, you
can say “I saw this awesome little short they did a few years ago.”
Let me know what you think!
