Toast Fall Wine Tasting To Celebrate Harvest!

Toast Fall Wine Tasting To Celebrate Harvest!

It’s harvest time in wine country. A new vintage of wine is being crushed, and those that have been aging in barrel for the last year or two are ready to be bottled so that a wine guzzler like myself can buy them up and drink them down! I love red wines most this time of year. They pair with all the hearty foods I like to make and just sort of warm the soul on chilly autumn evenings.

There’s always a lot of hoop-de-la over Cabernet but there are other hearty reds if you feel like broadening your horizons! I’ve tried to expand my options over the years. Not too long ago I discovered another big, bold red wine that I like—Petite Sirah. Join me as we celebrate harvest and toast to fall wine tasting with these robust reds!

Robert Foley Vineyards Petite Sirah

Its creator likens it to blackberry pie in a glass! I call it just plain AMAZING! This rich, opulent wine boasts dark juicy berry flavors highlighted by nuances of oak, vanilla, and forest floor. It’s big and luscious with enough tannin to make it cellar worthy. If you’re impatient like me, however, you won’t want to wait! You’ll just bust that baby open and start sippin’!

Dark and intense, this wine offers great fragrance with flavors of cherries, berries, and a potpourri of spices like anise, nutmeg, and vanilla. It has a huge mouthfeel that’s silky and rich with earthy notes on the finish. Seriously, get this. Drink it!

Super expressive with incredible aromas! Briary berries, cassis, plums and zesty notes of pepper are followed by impressions of toasted wood. This is one that’s bold, but also sophisticated!

Not as robust as the others mentioned, this Petite Sirah is perfect for everyday drinking (as if I don’t drink everyday! Ha!) Even though it’s lighter in body you still get boat loads of flavor reminiscent of berries, cherries and dark chocolate! Yum!
