So what do you think? Should the stars have to pay the IRS just because they pick up some freebies? What do you think will happen to the whole gift bag industry then? I’m sort of torn on this one. I see why the IRS wants the stars to claim these gifts as income because they are receiving a gift, but how should this really work? As it stands, the stars now pick up their latest cache of stuff along with a tax form. But what if you’re Jessica Simpson and you pick up the basket but you only want the swarovski crystal encrusted iPod but not the Fendi bag. In fact you think the bag’s ugly so you give it away to your assistant, Miss CaCee Cobb of the moment. Why should you have to pay the IRS if you don’t even know whether you want to keep the stuff?
Now that Uncle Sam is involved, he is not going to get uninvolved. So what do you think of the new policy and what’s the alternative if you don’t like it?
