Opaque Dining: Dining in the Dark

The quirks just keep getting quirkier. Opaque Dining has outlets in San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco and claims a new thrilling food experience in this age of visual over stimulation. Blind servers will serve your food in the pitch dark, hoping to reignite your remaining senses that they believe have been dulled due to the emphasis modern technology places on visual stimuli.

This trend originated in Europe and now Opaque Los Angeles is available at V Lounge in Santa Monica, Thursday through Sunday. Reservations are typically booked two to three weeks in advanced due to high demand and limited seating.

Upon arriving you will be greeted in a lit lounge where you will be shown a specially prepared menu from you to choose from. You will be asked to check all bags and coats before being taken into the pitch black dining room. We are told all you need to do is follow the simple instructions of your waiter to feel comfortable at all times. Critics have been raving at the experience and its positive effect on their relationship with food!

It would sure to be an adventure and a half! What food would you want to try in the dark?
