No Trouble with Trout

I’m in New York right now for some fun and a lot of inspiration. As far as ideas go, there are few places better than Manhattan. At the moment, my brain is a little overwhelmed. That’s ok though because I need to go home with lots of ideas!

So far I’ve only been here two days but have had some AMAZING meals. Unable to get into L’Atelier which just opened at the Four Seasons, I had a not so quick bite at 57 Fifty Seven ( www.fourseasons.com/newyorkfs/dining/57.html ), another restaurant in the hotel. They featured trout two ways: sauteed with a parsley cream sauce and then smoked. Just painfully good.

Evidentally in the mood for more trout, I couldn’t resist a grilled trout salad at Balthazar ( www.balthazarny.com ). The warm lentils that accompanied it with semi-candied walnuts were just too good. As much as I love spinach, I was a little relieved that the greens accompanying my trout were arugula since we are now in the middle of a full blown spinach crisis in this country. The basket of bread, a little stiff at $15 bucks a basket provided me with one of the best cinnamon rolls ever. I will say that my favorite cinnamon roll is still at Pie ‘n Burger in Pasadena ( www.pienburger.com ) but this was an extremely close second.

Look for more fun info after my dinner at Jean-Georges ( www.jean-georges.com ) and WD 50 ( www.wd-50.com ). Bon appetit!
