Piggies Fit For a Goddess
You don’t have to live on a farm to raise pigs. I would know… I have three – Pop Tart, Chocolate, and Wattles — at home in the city. We got them for an event and then of course, my children fell in love. #Typical.
Celebrities Love Pigs
As if stars need to call any more attention to themselves, for a good many of them dogs and cats just won’t do! So they have pigs! Miley Cyrus, Megan Fox, Paris Hilton, George Clooney, Elizabeth Hurley, and David Beckham, now or at one time, have all purportedly been proud pig owners. (Guess I’m in good company! #Shocker.)
Literature Loves Pigs
Books have featured every animal you can think of and some of the most famous have been about pigs. Because they’re awesome! Look, it wasn’t a pig that made Captain Ahab insane. It was a whale. And, yo, pigs didn’t climb into Goldilocks’ bed. It was dumb ol’ bears. That’s because pigs have much better manners even though they totally get a bad rap for being messy! From Piglet in Winnie the Pooh to E.B. White’s Wilbur, many a pig has even made it to the big screen, and if I don’t mention Miss Piggy first, I’m gonna catch hell (she’s SO pushy!).
How Did Pigs Get Their Own Day?
I don’t know, but I’d like to talk to their publicist! National Pig Day was founded in 1972 to honor “one of man’s most intellectual and domesticated animals.” (I know, cats will beg to differ!) So, there you have it. I’ve got a pregnant pig and you’ve probably got a craving for bacon! We wish you a happy National Pig Day anyway!
