I know it’s already January 2, BUT…

I am just excited with trivia lately, so here’s some about New Year’s.

• The US tradition of watching the New Year’s ball drop began in 1907; the original ball was made of iron and wood.
• The Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California is a popular tradition. The Tournament of Roses parade that precedes the football game on New Year’s Day is made up of elaborate and inventive floats and the first parade was held in 1886.
• New Year’s Resolutions: recent research shows that while 52% of participants in a Resolution study were confident of success with their goals, only 12% actually achieved their goals. The most popular resolution is to lose weight.
• The first New Year’s celebrations were noticed in Mesopotamia around 2000 years ago. It was celebrated at the time of Equinox in mid-March by the Egyptians, Persians and Phoenicians, while Greeks celebrated it on winter solstice.
• The Roman emperor Julius Caesar officially declared January 1 to be a New Year in 46 B.C. instead of stating the New Year in March.

Have Fun!

P.S. You know you’ve got a Thera-Flu hangover when the funky dreams start. Last night my ENTIRE DREAM SITUATION was consumed with me being new best friends with Barbie Benton (hugh????) at her very weird house that had all kinds of strange, different mosaic rooms (I think I got that part from an episode of The Girls Next Door) and a view of the ocean. However, during the dream Barbie kept changing outfits and eating really healthy food (ie – almonds and seaweed?) Then the house started sinking and we all had to evacuate except that my suitcase was still on the fifth floor and of course I had to retrieve it. (Was I planning on moving in with Barbie Benton??) Then she denied ever living in Pasadena when I brought it up to her (she used to live next door to my friend.) Go figure. I think it’s time for me to go cold turkey on the meds; things are starting to get extra challenging, even for me.

One response to “I know it’s already January 2, BUT…”
