Many brides these days are choosing to forgo the traditional fete when it comes to their shower. They want something different and interactive.
No more silly games or guessing how many diaper pins are in a jar. Every city around the US offers so many choices to pick from…you just have to put a little research time in. Here are some ideas to help you get the creative juices flowing!
Design, Create, and Take Home the Memories – Not the type to put expensive china on your registry? Gather all your girlfriends and end up with a set of plates, bowls, and mugs…hand-painted especially for you! Imagine how much fun it will be to pull each piece out of the cupboard each day. Color Me Mine has locations just about everywhere. So much fun, and memories that last.
Throw That Apron On – Culinary events are held nationwide through companies like Hipcooks, which hosts parties in Los Angeles, Seattle, and Portland, Oregon. Boutique hotels, including Detroit’s Honor & Folly, have chefs on-site and room for parties. And cooking schools and local bakeries, where you can try preserving fruits or cake decorating, are great resources.
Make Something Unique – Gourmet endeavors aren’t your only options; pick an artistic pursuit, like painting or flower arranging, and find a studio or museum where it’s taught. The WonderCraft, in Austin, Texas, gives screen-printing and glass-etching lessons in an Airstream trailer.
Create a Signature Scent – Meet up with the girls and create a new perfume. A great example is MCMC Fragrances perfume-making workshop in New York City. Although this seems like a fun new trend that might be scarce in supply right now, keep your eyes peeled. This will probably become more popular soon!
