Good & plenty! Fill your table with edible décor this Thanksgiving!
Do you remember when you were in grade school and every coloring sheet around Thanksgiving had a big turkey or a cornucopia with vegetables spilling out of it? They were always drawn with thick black lines, probably so kids with a tendency to color outside the lines could manage to stay inside them. I was one of those kids — go figure! I still cringe whenever I see a cornucopia. For some reason they appear on many cocktail napkins this time of year. Ugh! Way to spoil my cocktail! I know, they represent bounty and harvest. Why do they even bother me? Don’t ask! I think it’s the reminder of third grade (remember, I was an outside-the-lines kinda girl). Cornucopia phobia aside, I DO love celebrating bounty and harvest! So this year, I’m doing a Thanksgiving table with a cornucopia of vegetables and fruit, just without the big silly horn!
Dress up your Thanksgiving table in its Thursday best!
How exactly am I going to do that? Well, take a look at the photos we’re sharing this week. You’ll see gorgeous tablescapes we created for a photo shoot and I loved it so much, I’m going to copy it for my Thanksgiving table this year! It looked lavish and bountiful — how often do I use that word? Um, never, but it’s the right word to describe what looked like a harvest celebration. We piled on the produce and used only a few flowers and candles for some extra pretty touches. The look was colorful and fabulous!

Every day we’re posting event photos & inspiration to my Instagram page to give you ideas for your own events. In terms of format, we’re trying to capitalize on the whole hashtag calendar world and take advantage of #WeddingWednesday (#WW) and #ThrowbackThursday (#TBT) by posting wedding photos and cool stuff we’ve done on Wednesdays and on Thursdays, harkening back to a past client’s event, be it a celebrity, or just one of us tastemakers.
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Monday:
Veggie-might! You don’t always have to do flowers on a Thanksgiving table. Find some colorful fruits and veggies and decorate with them instead. They’re just as beautiful and nature’s blooms. And might come in handy if you overcook the turkey!
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Tuesday:
Here’s a table to rival any produce department! Plantains, papayas, lemons and whatever those cool green flowers are called (they’re actually Dianthus). Anyway, they’re the perfect bloom to tuck into a sprawling array of fruits and veggies. So pretty!
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Wednesday:
A simple piece of fruit at each place setting creates a feeling of hospitality. Look for something beautiful and seasonal — figs, tangerines, persimmons, plums. And they’re all perfect additions to the cheese plate at the end of the meal! Say cheese! Happy #WeddingWednesday!
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Thursday:
If you’re filling your Thanksgiving tablescape with fruit this year — what a great idea! — pair your wine accordingly! Have something bubbly to start. Follow with a crisp, slightly fruity white. And finish with a soft red. Better start the wine tastings now to get ready! #TBT
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Friday:
For your Thanksgiving table this year, try going green! With produce, that is. Who’d have thought a whole watermelon would look good on a table? (Almost sounds like someone was too lazy to slice it!) But it does look good! Amazing, in fact, when surrounded by limes, olive branches and other greenery. Love it! #TGIF
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Saturday:
We’re showing farm-to-table centerpiece ideas this week. Or maybe it’s orchard-to-table. Pick your favorite fruits and “pretty” vegetables and have fun making a generous, banquet-worthy spread. And then fill those empty glasses to toast what you’re thankful for!
