What a freakin’, flippin’ week. I do not care that my mother hates when I say freakin’ or flippin’. I am saying it. I am bitter and done.
This week I got CREAMED. CREAMED. And I want to share it with you. This week came with the highest highs and the lowest lows. Here are just some of them. Trust me, there are 400 more.
* Flew to Austin to speak to the Austin ISES chapter. One of the best teaching experiences of my life. I got so much positive feedback, felt like I really made a difference in one little part of the event planning world and was welcomed, taken care of, treated, driven around and fed ’til I called uncle. Thank you Mary and Kelley. I don’t know where you came from but I appreciate you. (Super high.)
* Came back from Austin and crashed. Had 10,000 emails to answer, annoying little stuff here and there, my husband was buzzing to me that the roof was leaking all over, it was hailing and he was upset. (Seriously, the hail is something I can control?) All I wanted to do was hide. But then the girls in the office needed things, answers, because I was back on solid ground and “available.” I begged for a day just to finish sleeping and review everything for them on Monday. They cheerfully agreed. No problem, take a nap. (Low, low, low except for the girls in the office…)
* My client, Keely Brosnan (Pierce’s wife), emailed and asked if my family and I wanted to go to a friends and family screening/first look of Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief. Well yes, actually, we would love to go and thank you so much for thinking of us. (Super duper high.)
* My neck is killing me. I need to ask my kimchi yoga group, but I am sure this is a deep-seated tie to “anger”, “fear” or something else traumatic. (I will take some Motrin before heading to Mr. Percy Jackson and this will just go to a “neutral” instead of an annoyance.)
* Because we have been doused with rain (my favorite thing by the way), the mountains outside my bedroom are like a white frosted, ginormous powdered doughnut. They look dee-wish-ous, to say it like my little Coco does. (High.)
* I found out that one of my staff has been billing me to play on Facebook and watch reruns of the WB Network. Nothing against the WB but that is not what I want people doing. I am peeved, hurt, annoyed and want to throw something. This is California, so I will gracefully usher her out on Monday and hope that she is too busy with the WB this weekend to read this. (Mega Bitter Low)
* The Chicago Tribune called. Could I do an interview about party crashers for their paper next Sunday the 31st. I have a lot of friends and cousins in Chicago, so this was particularly fun. I am teaching everyone how to crash parties. My mother again is white hot with pride over this one. I did the interview. Reporter was so nice. As far as I’m concerned, if you’re from the Midwest or Texas, I’ll do anything for ya. (Fun High.)
* My children are adorable. The big one just finished mid-terms and is off to his golf lesson (sweetpea, can ya play mud golf because it’s not lookin’ so god out there), the middle one is the skinniest little string bean you’ve ever seen and his sister, all ready for the movie with her hair in a ginormous bow, is, well, very round. If he’s a string bean, she’s a sweet potato. Round, lumpy, curvacious and just plan DEE-WISH-OUS. (High x 10)
So that is my very raw blog post. More to come I’m sure. I feel better already. Thank you for listening. This post was inspired by my friend Max Simon, the enlightened entrepreneur who posted something today that just made me want to write. Thank you for the inspiration today Max. My next stop on the bitter train for a little divine inspiration is always to www.CherylRichardson.com and her touch of grace cards. After I read Max’s post and before I posted this one, I clicked on my Touch of Grace card. It said: “Pray: I am open and receptive to the power of grace in my life now. I ask to be shown clear examples of how this energy is operating in my life.” Yes everyone, the secret is out. I actually pray and it really helps. Now go and enjoy your version of Percy Jackson: The Lightening Thief or some powdered sugar covered mountains. We’re all in this together and next week yours truly will be back to WHITE HOT.
Hugs, I think a lot of you might want one.
Thanks for the shout-out, chica…glad we Austin gals were a part of your super high highs in your peaks and valleys rockstar week. Anytime you need peanut butter mousse pie the size of your head or an incredible event planned in Texas, we’re one call away.
I’ll bring the smart water.
best,
Mary Baird-Wilcock
