Deck the halls… and the rooms, and the tables & the tree with ornaments!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! There’ll be parties for hosting, and much mistltoeing, something about marshmallows and gay happy meetings. Yes, I’m paraphrasing here… then there’s the caroling in the snow. Ha! I love that part. I suppose some people do have snow now, like maybe half the country. Just not where I live! Anyway, I do love Christmas and all the decorating that goes with it. Not too surprising coming from an event planner who lives for this stuff! I have what might be described as a plethora of Christmas ornaments and decorations. When you’re a gal who loves to throw a party — or plan one for other people — you can never have too many decorations. The more the merrier I say!
So many Christmas ornaments, so little tree!
So if you’re like me and you’ve got waaay more ornaments than your Christmas tree can hold, no worries! You don’t need to burden your poor tree with too much bling. That could quickly turn an amazing-looking tree into a sad, saggy tree. Not good. Nor do you have to pick and choose which decorations make an appearance this year and which go back to the garage for further aging. Take them all out and use them! With a little creativity, you can create several displays or vignettes with similar-themed items. And if you have any old-school Christmas ball ornaments, bring those out too. We’ve featured several photos showing what to do with them. They’re about the easiest way to add some color and shine without breaking the bank. So again, the more the merrier!
Where to find The Party Goddess! ideas galore?
If you’ve been one of my loyal blog followers, you know that we publish these image roundups weekly. We feature a particular event for a particular client so you can go deep on the particular theme. If you know what’s up, skip this part. New visitors, take a look below…
In case you missed it, here’s what we’re doing, mentioned in the first blog. (And if you already know what’s going on, skip to the first photo!) Every day we’re posting event photos & inspiration to my Instagram page to give you ideas for your own events. And, of course, to encourage you to hire yours truly, one of the top event planners in Los Angeles, for your next soirée! In terms of format, we’re trying to capitalize on the whole hashtag calendar world and take advantage of #WeddingWednesday (#WW) and #ThrowbackThursday (#TBT) by posting wedding photos and cool stuff we’ve done on Wednesdays and on Thursdays, harkening back to a past client’s event, be it a celebrity, or just one of us tastemakers.
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Monday:
Just a trifle of green, if you please! Need a quick, easy centerpiece? Not planning to make a Christmas trifle this year? Well put that trifle bowl to use and fill it with some Christmas balls. Sprinkle fake snow around it and voilà! (Wish I knew what the British equivalent of voilà is, since I’m talking about trifle and all.)
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Tuesday:
I love this arrangement of Christmas ornaments — they’re almost like silver bells, in a boat! If you’ve got something long and flat to put the ornaments in, even better. It’ll add some sparkle to your entire table… soon it will be Christmas day!
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Wednesday:
To make a bigger impact, go monochrome. Not to be confused with monotone. Monochrome, good. Monotone, boring. This display, definitely not boring!
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Thursday:
I’m sure you have a number of petite ornaments that would get lost on a full-size tree. Save them for hanging on a plant or a mini tree. These stars are perfect: small, cute and glittery. Twinkle little star! #TBT
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Friday:
Some people need to winterize their homes at this time of year. (I’m told that’s a thing.) Where I live, that means turning the sprinklers to one day a week. Um, yeah. So to help me remember what season it is, I like to winterize other things, like the bar. How do you like this cute snowflake ornament on the decanter? Makes me want a hot toddy! Brrrr…! #TGIF
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Saturday:
Got leftover ornaments? Go for a “thrown together” look by tossing your stray ornaments (gently!) in the largest bowl or container you have. When you mix silver and gold, you’ll get a look that’s festive, modern and casual (i.e., I didn’t know what else to do with them, but hey, don’t you love my cool arrangement?).
