Recently TPG applied for a Dell Small Business Award. The purpose of the award is: “To seek out and reward innovative small businesses for a smart use of technology, Dell and the National Federation of Independent Business are teaming for the 4th year to launch the 2007 Dell/NFIB Small Business Excellence Award program. The award honors small businesses that represent a spirit of innovation in applying information technology in their business practices to improve the customer experience.”
What does this have to do with a party planning blog? A lot. Because we get frequent requests for business advice, a part of this blog is dedicated to helping small business owners grow in smart ways. Applying for quality awards, like Dell’s, is an important part of improving your business. Why? Because answering the questions forces you to THINK about your business. I don’t mean to dwell and kvetch, I mean to determine what’s working, what isn’t and where you want to go.
Will we be picked as a finalist for the Dell Award? Who knows, but the valuable lessons I learned in just completing the paperwork and answering the questions about why TPG is ahead of the pack got me thinking about all kinds of exciting growth opportunities. The 2007 deadline for submission was March 30, 2007 but log on to: http://www.dell.com/content/topics/topic.aspx/global/shared/bizportal/en/industry/articles/rewarding_innovative?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd to get a jump start on the 2008 awards. Your company will thank you.
