Love your flowers? Try tossing the tradition, not the bouquet!
Weddings have so many odd traditions that have worked their way into today’s celebrations, wouldn’t you say? Dad “giving away” the bride. Lifting the veil. Cutting the cake. And my favorite/not favorite, that whole garter thing. Then there’s tossing the bouquet. It came from the idea that a bride brought good luck to anyone who touched her or took a piece of her dress — because God forbid a girl stay single! Isn’t she lucky to finally be married! So some clever brides — in a slick move to evade all their adoring fans and paparazzi — started tossing their wedding flower bouquets as a way to spare their dresses, yet still share their good luck. A tradition was born! Let’s keep doing it forever!
Now, what’s a girl to do if she loves her flowers? I say keep them! Or you could do what many a bride has done for decades: Make a mini-me of your bridal bouquet and toss that instead. That’ll give you the best of both worlds. You can share your fabulous good fortune with your poor single girlfriends in the hopes that some of your married-person mojo rubs off on them. And you can keep the stunning, gorgeous bouquet you so carefully chose for your special day. Because seriously, this is probably the single-most carefully chosen special bouquet you’ll ever have!
To have & to hold: Wedding flower bouquets you’ll want to hang on to!
This week, we shared some photos of keepable and untossable wedding flower bouquets. Some were in delicate hues of blush. Others were vibrant orange. And still others were made of succulents, which are super on-trend right now. Take a look for yourself and see what I mean by untossable (which auto-correct does not think is a word).

So how’s this for a non-traditional bouquet? These moss-covered “handbags” have succulent “flowers” on the outside, and inside are the rose petals to toss at the bride & groom. Super cute idea for the flower girls to carry, don’t you think?
