Pregnancy = Closets

I believe that everyone should get pregnant a couple of times, entertain once a year and move about every five years. Why? Because all three types of events require you to get organized. Let’s face it, the minute you’re going to have a big party you immediately want to replant the back yard, fix the chips in the paint on the walls and redo the bathrooms. It’s great. These big events force us to get motivated. For me, pregnancy completely involves reorganizing my entire universe. Poor Party Goddess girls, today they got summoned to the house to put away my garage. Let me explain.

Bug firmly planted in bonnet, I decided that every time I pulled into my garage I got depressed. Things seemed out of place and jumbled up. Most people would swear that the place was in pretty good shape, I remain steadfast that the garage looked like a pig pen. Combine the self determined garage disaster with the fact that we had to build my husband another home office in order to make room for the new baby (his office had to become her nursery) and voila! a perfect storm.

This little rat hole of his is so tiny, yet so important to him. I wanted it to be cool and stylish even though he could really care less. I brought in some of my tried and true vendors – The Container Store and Flor. The place looks fabulous! I went to the Container Store in Pasadena and worked with Paulette, a true gem who continuously assured me that I was not the manatee that I assured her I felt like, all while typing away on her amazing little space planning computer. I feel confident that you will have similar luck at your Container Store because Forbes (I think?) named T.C.S. one of the top 100 places to work. They are efficient, friendly and just so good at what they do. Thank you Paulette!

Next vendor, Flor. You must know Flor. They sell all of those fabulous 12×12 precut, easy to install floor tiles that literally anyone could put in. I got these squares of cream, chocolate, slate and camel called Striped Poodle that just make the whole little office pop.

Finally, the garage. I got more high cabinets, extra cabinets, more shelves, hooks and brackets than a super Home Depot and I must say you could throw a dinner party in that garage now. California Closets handled the whole thing and I know they are in more places than just our sunny west coast. So get organized, but most importantly hide those bills from your husband or it’ll be you sleeping in the rat hole.
