Holy Shortcake… It’s National Strawberry Day!
Why is National Strawberry Day in February when these bite-sized beauties aren’t even in season yet?! Maybe cuz they’re shaped a bit like a heart and this is Valentine’s month? Anyhoo, you’ve got another 5 months to go before you can pick up a basket at a roadside stand! Luckily, you’ll find them in grocery stores year-round thanks to greenhouses and big boats that import ‘em from South America where our winter is their summer and having two hemispheres makes everything all good!
National Strawberry Day Blog Confession!
I love ALL berries. But strawberries are my FAVE berry in all the land because they work well in cocktails or a glass of Champagne, blended in smoothies, dipped in chocolate—even on top of salad greens when I’m having one of those “I must be healthy” days I’m happy to ditch 24-hours later!
Berry On My Mind

Strawberry Cocktails
Every Mixology Monday (yes, that should be an official holiday too!) my “friends” (that’s Goddess speak for booze-hounds and a bartender) and I prepare several rounds of drinks. Sometimes we try new concoctions. Other times we pour tried and true recipes we love. This drink was knee-buckling delicious and features today’s guest fruit.
