Tips To Be Thankful For Before You Tackle The Turkey!
In my world, it feels like the kids just got out of school for the summer when in reality it’s time to start dialing the Butterball Hotline. If you still haven’t figured out why it’s getting dark so early — or haven’t even noticed that it IS in fact getting dark early! — let me be the one to share the news: The holidays are coming! (It still feels like August to me so don’t feel bad if you’re not accepting of this.) Now, if this “blessed” time of year has left you wondering where to even begin, why not poach some of my Thanksgiving tips and tricks to spice things up?
If you’ve been one of my loyal blog followers, you know that we publish these image roundups weekly. We feature a particular event for a particular client (well, actually this week, we’ve got tips that you probably can’t live without) so you can go deep on the particular theme. If you know what’s up, skip this part. New visitors, take a look below…
In case you missed it, here’s what we’re doing, mentioned in the first blog. (And if you already know what’s going on, skip to the first photo!) Every day we’re posting event photos & inspiration to my Instagram page to give you ideas for your own events. And, of course, to encourage you to hire yours truly, event planner extraordinaire, for your next soirée! In terms of format, we’re trying to capitalize on the whole hashtag calendar world and take advantage of #WeddingWednesday (#WW) and #ThrowbackThursday (#TBT) by posting wedding photos and cool stuff we’ve done on Wednesdays and on Thursdays, harkening back to a past client’s event, be it a celebrity, or just one of us tastemakers.
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Monday:
Thanksgiving Tip #1 – Put pen to pumpkin and share your gratitude! Take a Sharpie and on a pumpkin write things you’re thankful for each day. Then, pass the pumpkin around during your Thanksgiving feast and read aloud.
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Tuesday:
Thanksgiving Tip #2 – Baking pies not your gig? Create a candy apple dipping station with pre-sliced apples on sticks to dip in white chocolate, dark chocolate or caramel. Then double down with peanuts, crushed toffee or sprinkles. Yum!
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Wednesday:
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Thursday:
Thanksgiving Tip #4 – Get crafty! Well, you don’t have to, but having a craft ready for your younger guests will give them something to do other than running through the kitchen. Just be sure to put someone else in charge of it!
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Friday:
Thanksgiving Tip #5 – Does this fork go in the gravy? How many times have you been asked that by one of your I’m-completely-clueless-in-the-kitchen guests who’s trying to be helpful at the last minute? Avoid having to come up with a polite answer (cuz there really isn’t one!) by labeling everything with Post-It Notes in advance. Bowls, platters, utensils — even the gravy ladle — get a sticky note so there’s no doubt what food goes where.
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Saturday:
Thanksgiving Tip #6 – Do an oven pre-check! Confirm that the temperature of the oven is actually, well, the real temperature of the oven, before it’s been 3 hours and the bird is still frigid. It’s an easy thing to overlook. But checking this ahead of time can be the difference between the perfect Thanksgiving dinner and your guests pretending that stuffing pairs well with pizza!
