During this Fourth of July holiday, the sky doesn’t have to be the only thing getting “oohs” and “ahhs”. Your Fourth of July celebration can have your guests saluting your patriotism and your savvy party planning skills with these fresh ideas.
1) Put a new “Twist” on it
Celebrate with a 50’s theme. Decorate your tables with checkered tablecloths, Coca-Cola bottles, vinyl records, and the resurrected spirit of The Fonz. Have everyone dress in 50’s attire and participate in a dance contest for the ages.
2) Let your menu fly the colors
Feast on patriotic-themed food, like American flag-shaped pizzas, star-shaped corn bread, blueberries and strawberries in cream, blue corn chips with salsa and sour cream, etc.
3) Serve up a cold one
A Fourth of July celebration isn’t complete until you’ve shared a frosty cold American beer. For non-beer drinkers, serve signature drinks with fun names, like “Patriotic Pina Colada” and “Liberty Lemonade.”
4) Make centerpieces do double duty
Layer red, white, and blue candy in a glass vase. It dresses up your table while giving your guests a treat.
5) Put on a kid parade
Have the kids decorate their bikes and make paper hats. They can put on their own patriotic parade down the street. For a childhood adventure, hide plastic gold coins around the yard for the kids to find and turn in for fun prizes.
6) 4th of July desserts
Everyone will scream for ice cream. Your guests will love a dessert station of nostalgic ice cream floats with root beer and Coca-Cola and classic shakes made from real ice cream. Don’t forget the whipped cream and cherry on top!
