Party Themes, Concepts and Excuses
It’s a natural initial conversation. You’re each testing the waters, trying to find common ground. Common interests, likes, dislikes, favorite movies, taste in flowers. Taste in flowers? No, this is not a first date of the romantic sort, but the first date with your party planner. You’ve decided there is enough to go on between the two of you to set up that first meeting, but how do you get past that awkward dance of determining where to go from here? Below are a few tips and tricks to inspire party themes, even if you’re just plain clueless.
Nothing great can be created without passion. Everyone has a passion, we just have to find it. Below are some ideas to get your creative juices flowing, whether you’re a do-it-yourselfer or hiring the full blown party dream team. Find that passion by considering the following:
Movies
We did a fabulous Austin Powers party when they movie first came out and life was all about the Mojo. Use the movie theme to guide your plans. Pick an old favorite that we’ve all watched and make all of your food stations relate to a particular scene in the movie. This year we’ve got the remake of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Ah! So many ideas for this it’s almost painful. Choose your favorite movie character and do a take on that. If you love James Bond, name your cocktails after each one of his action-packed flicks. Don’t want to narrow it down? Have your guests arrive as their favorite actor or character in any movie. During the party, the other guests will have to figure out who they are dressed as. Now there’s an ice breaker! (You can stretch this out to incorporate not only movies, but favorite tv shows, plays, operas, etc.)
