Parties can come with their fair share of excess. In fact, the pomp and circumstance of any party calls for a little excess, whether that be an extra glass of champagne for the hostess or an extra set of cupcakes in case disaster strikes in the form a hungry canines at the backyard BBQ. We may revel in doing things over-the-top in the name of being a Party Goddess, but we are also not oblivious to the fact that some things need to be scaled back in the name of global warming. Here are a few tips and tricks how to make your next party an Ever-Green Party by replacing that floral centerpiece with a greener option but without sacrificing too much of the pomp and circumstance.
*As opposed the costly floral centerpiece with a shelf life, try using paper flowers instead. We love the tissue paper flower kits that Martha Stewart sells at Michaels, easy to assemble, available in multiple colors, and they punch any table to party status. Plus, they are reusable if the party does not get too rowdy!
* Create an interactive centerpiece for your guests that pulls double duty—or even triple duty if it is an arts and crafts project that allows them to take something home with them! A papier-mâché craft project makes guests nostalgic for elementary school while creating a fun and easy pastime, and ultimately centerpiece! We also love setting up Polaroid cameras in the middle of tables to encourage people to document the event and have a keepsake to take home and stick on their fridge.
* The easiest way to create an eco-friendly centerpiece is make it edible. Let your dessert speak for itself as your cupcakes can be artfully arranged on tiered platters. Or fill up bright colored bowls with brighter color candy. Search out candy wrappers that match your color scheme or theme for your party. A big bowl of Baby Ruth’s would bowl over all guests at a baby shower! And every mom-to-be knows the cravings of chocolate can strike at anytime!
