Botox, Extreme Makeover – Tired Edition, Martha Stewart Living and Engage10

Yesterday I was in New York for not even 24 hours. This is painful on so many levels because I LOVE New York. Just like the t-shirt. Yep, that’s me. I had A BLAST taking such a special tour of the offices of Martha Stewart Living with my friend, Courtney Kern. I was so inspired by the company (who isn’t?) but I got to meet a ton of the Martha staffers who are all just so cool, creative and inspiring that it hurt me physically. (This might also be because I’ve eaten so many cookies in the last few days that truly, physically, I am hurting.) I got to see how they create their inspiration boards (a new favorite subject for me) and bask in the wonderful glow of their magnificence. No, I am not blowing smoke. They are just amazing. Then I had a casual lunch at ‘wichCraft. Great name, great salad, even better cinnamon roll.

So first I thought I was just tired (shot a show at BetterTV earlier in the day when they just magically added another segment at the last minute.) Mind you, I had PAINTED on my face that day because the bags were so deep under my eyes and natch, we add a segment. Then I decided that yes I was tired, my sugar crash had probably set in, but seriously, it had just been a full week since my Botox appointment. My forehead was so heavy with Botox that I thought I was going to make a face plant. I’ve heard it takes like a week to set in but my forehead seemed to gain Botox weight due to flying or something. Plus, I had just left the Cayman Islands and Engage10.

That was painful. Not Engage10. Leaving. I just absolutely, positively love that conference. Run by Kathryn Arce and Rebecca Grinnals, I just cannot say enough about Engage. Every single thing is done with such perfection – visually, intellectually (does that make sense?) and otherwise. The food was great, the beach amazing, the company and conversations mind boggling and the networking off the charts. I left feeling sad that I won’t see my Engage bff’s for awhile, but super charged and enthused about business and everything that The Party Goddess! has coming up this year. Got to hang with Simon T. Bailey and plan out our next coaching program that launches in August, go swimming with the stingrays and in general just learn and appreciate.

After everything that has gone on with me this year, I was just so, so thankful to have been able to attend Engage, fly to New York to do tv which I LOVE, get some fabulous applications in for my Cashmere Coaching Program (you can check it out by going to: www.GetYourIdealClient.com) – what AMAZING event planning talent is out there! and then come home to the family. Speaking of, while I bask in this love and type and answer my 300 new emails from home, I just overhead the tv program my oldest (15 y.o.) is watching where the guy is saying that he needs “oral s–.” I literally screamed through the walls. “Cullen, what are you listening to? That is completely not appropriate, turn it off.” Seriously, it is day 1 of summer and I’m running a porn camp. He responds that “Mom, this is a medical show [House.]” Seriously? Seriously? Did he just say that? Because House happens to be a doctor, we’re going to run a porn camp? This is why mothers should not work. Had I gone into the office like I was supposed to I would’ve missed this magical, purely inappropriate dialogue. Send help and ban the cable.

I think I’m losing it at the moment, overtaken by a Botox haze. I will continue to rant over the weekend for sure and wanted to throw out a last shout out to Marcy Blum. So nice that we’ve reconnected after all of these years. You rock, even if you don’t call when you come to the Left Coast.
