TIPS:
* Sing for your supper. Search iTunes for some fun Leprechaun jams to play while you entertain your guests. It gets them moving and mingling with other friends. Try searching keywords: Bagpipe, Irish and Dropkick Murphys.
* Give guests a stein of green beer. Green beer is a tradition on St. Patrick’s Day in many households, bars and restaurants. Use pale ale, add plenty of green food coloring and surprise your guests when they ask for a brew with an emerald-colored, ice-cold beer. Also try putting green colored liquor in shot glasses or test tubes for an after-dinner drink!
* Give your guests some green! No, not money—vegetables! Serve healthy food instead of the usual fatty snacks. Cut thin slices of a green bell pepper in the shape of shamrocks to keep your guests feeling lucky! Also try celery, green beans, cucumber slices, asparagus and edamame beans. For dessert, serve small, green, bite-size candies like Now and Laters, Jolly Ranchers and chewy peppermint treats.
* Search for gold in a field of clover. Cluster small pots of green moss down the length of your table, then nestle gold, chocolate coins in the moss. This will make a festive centerpiece, and your guests will feel like they’ve found the luck of the Irish when they grab a sweet treat.
* Give every guest a pot of gold! Use small black pails and fill with popcorn. These treats will serve as place cards during the party but will also make a fun gift for each guest to take home!
