It’s summer! That means fiestas are in full swing. But also that it’s really freaking hot out! A couple of weeks ago we offered up some tips for outdoor entertaining in our graduation party blog, and you know what was at the top of the list? ICE! Two pounds per person just for beverages and more if you’ll be keeping food cold and ice buckets filled for bottle chilling.
Speaking of which, if you’re plotting out your booze list for summer entertaining, you’ll want to have plenty of sparkling wine for the summer! Bubbly is light and refreshing. It’s classy. It’s cool. It even comes in single-serving cans! All of which, you’ll want to keep chilled on ice!
Sparkling Wine Cocktails & Desserts
Sparkling wine is also great for creating signature party cocktails. Take this Pomegranate French 75 from Brit + Co for instance!
Wondering about dessert? Sparkling wine can be used to make granita (fancy Italian name for shaved ice!) Check out this gorgeous Rose Champagne Granita recipe from Feast & West! Serve it in a martini glass or champagne coupe and you’ve got yourself an elegant dessert that keeps the party rolling!
Types of Bubbles
Champagne can be expensive if you have a large crowd. And, you don’t want to waste the good stuff on cocktails since you’ll be blending it with other ingredients. Not sure what your options are? Aaron Goldfarb at Fix.com explains the differences between Champagne, Sparkling Wine, Cava and Prosecco in Everything You Need To Know About Drinking Champagne to help get you started. (There’s also a diagram for making a sparkling wine tower! How fun is that?!)
Even if you don’t have any parties planned (although I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t!) sparkling wine for the summer is a perfect alternative for happy hour with friends or just chillin’ at home. Pop a cork and see!
