For All You Silly Rabbits!
I’ll never forget the ads for Trix where a very clever rabbit was always trying to get his hungry paws on some Trix cereal. When he finally did, he was told by some bratty kid, “Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids!” I’m not so sure about the advertising geniuses behind the Trix campaign, but when I think Easter, I think rabbits. And when I think rabbits, I think Trix cereal… not kids, like I’m probably supposed to! I mean, I DO think of kids on Easter because I have three of them! But before that, I think of the Trix rabbit! Is your head spinning? Mine too! That must mean it’s cocktail hour! What better way to celebrate Easter than with a Trix Martini!
You all know how much I love cereal and cereal-inspired cocktails so it should come as no surprise that I’m all hopped up about the Trix Martini! From the fine folks at Drinking In America, comes a recipe that has all the fruity flavor of Trix along with whipped cream and vodka! Seriously, what could be better?! Here’s the recipe:
Trix Martini (makes 4)
1 cup vodka
1 cup Trix cereal
½ cup whipping cream
½ cup sugar
½ cup water
¼ cup lime juice
¼ cup lemon juice
2 egg whites
2 cups ice
Let ½ cup cereal sit in vodka for 15 minutes in a bowl. Put other ½ cup cereal in cream for the same amount of time in the fridge. Boil sugar and water until sugar dissolves. Stir in strained vodka and cream after water cools. Throw away the cereal unless you’re really brave. Mix everything together and shake. A lot. Pour into a martini glass and enjoy.
Right?! A Trix Martini is sure to get you hopping, or jumping, or mating, or whatever it is that rabbits do! Don’t say I didn’t warn you! Here’s wishing you and yours a happy Easter!
