Wanted: A Cool New Halloween Client!

Any great cook knows that it’s always a good idea to shop for what’s in season. Buy artichokes when they are at their peak, strawberries in summer…you get the drift. I have a theory that it is also smart to buy what the artist feels like painting, what the cook is in the mood to cook, or in our case, what the party planner is in the mood to plan.

Does that mean that you shouldn’t book us to do a Mardi Gras event because we’re not in the mood? Of course not! It just means that we’ve decided to take on a proactive approach. You know, ask for what you want. Hey, we might not get it. But, what if we throw it out there that we’re looking for a really, really cool Halloween client, someone who gets it, someone who knows what it’s like to throw a truly fabulous 10-31 event. Well, maybe we’ll get lucky. So here goes. From now on, the “Wanted” section of this blog will be dedicated to looking for clients who are on the same inspirational page that we’re currently on. Right now, for whatever reason, that’s Halloween.

We have all been to a ton of Halloween parties. Let’s face it, you either love Halloween or you hate it, or at the very least, you just don’t get it. But if you are one of those people who love it, you are obsessed with it. Yes, I am a party planner, but I have many of my own obsessions outside of my job that inevitably worm their way into my business life. One of my obsessions has always been about pumpkins. I love the colors, shapes, stems, types, smells, seeds, multiple uses… the list goes on and on. As a result, I grow all different kinds every year. Each year I get more and more involved with my patch. Last year, so did the squirrels (that is get more and more involved with eating my patch.) Undeterred, this year I am going to start early and be fierce against the predators. That brings me to you.

What’s Halloween without a few fabulous jack-o-lanterns? Nowhere. As we speak, I am contemplating the types of pumpkins to start growing. Each of them has a unique skin, shape and size. Don’t even get me started on all of the types of gourds. Ah, paradise what you can do with some hollowed out gourds and a high-powered drill! The magic you can make!

In addition to pumpkins and gourds, Halloween has taken on a life of its own. The fabulous elements include huge spider webs, spiders of all different sizes, crazy weapons and knives, tons and tons of candles, sounds and glow in the dark paint. Food made to resemble eyeballs, witches and goblins. All around spook. I love it. Now, one disclaimer. I don’t want to give you the impression that I’m obsessed without the proper arsenal of information. Rest assured that at TPG headquarters, we have amassed an insane amount of Halloween research, ideas and info. This has been a long labor of love.

So, if Halloween is your holiday and you want to create a BLOCKBUSTER of an event this year (whether it’s for friends, family or even clients), call us. We would love to share our passion with you and create a truly killer event. Pun intended.

  1. Hi there,

I am intending to hold a fancy dress fundraising event this halloween. I would be grateful for any advice and information you could give me to get me started.
Could you also advise me how to approach businesses etc. for donations, gifts etc.

    Many thanks,
