Do you have a wish list for Santa? Make sure you’re on it!
Holy Kris Kringle! December has arrived and for most of us, it’s going to be CRAZY! Work parties, friend parties, decorating, shopping, cooking, gifting! It’s exhausting just thinking about it! But obviously, for the party hostess aficionados among us, this whirlwind month is also one of our faves! We have total permission to make things extra special and take a few liberties we might not otherwise take in, say, March. (Well maybe I would, but that’s just me!) Now’s the time to pull out all the stops and embrace the season! Take out your antler ice tongs and make a yummy cranberry cocktail. Give everything a garnish, add more tinsel, extra eggnog, extra big bows, mistletoe! And let’s not forget the wish list for Santa, especially on Santa’s List Day! If you’re lucky, you might even meet a hunky Santa under the mistletoe like I did!
I’m guessing you spend most of the holiday season focused on other people. Whether you’re shopping for an unusual gift, hosting a houseful of relatives in questionable sweaters, or having friends over for late-night drinks, it’s all about them! And I know you LOVE doing it! However, don’t forget that you’re allowed to pamper yourself too!
This week had a few fun holidays that you probably had never heard of. Make Your Own Head Day… huh? You can find more bizarre, wacky and random holidays here! Well I hope you took some time to treat yourself, rest up, be creative and replenish your energy stores because I’m pretty sure you’re going to need it to get through the rest of this month. Party on fellow hostesses extraordinaire!
What’s on your wish list for Santa?
If you’ve been one of my loyal blog followers, you know that we publish these image roundups weekly. We feature a particular event for a particular client (well, actually this week, we’ve sidetracked a bit) so you can go deep on the particular theme. If you know what’s up, skip this part. New visitors, take a look below…
In case you missed it, here’s what we’re doing, mentioned in the first blog. (And if you already know what’s going on, skip to the first photo!) Every day we’re posting event photos & inspiration to my Instagram page to give you ideas for your own events. And, of course, to encourage you to hire yours truly, event coordinator extraordinaire, for your next soirée! In terms of format, we’re trying to capitalize on the whole hashtag calendar world and take advantage of #WeddingWednesday (#WW) and #ThrowbackThursday (#TBT) by posting wedding photos and cool stuff we’ve done on Wednesdays and on Thursdays, harkening back to a past client’s event, be it a celebrity, or just one of us tastemakers.
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Monday:
Make Your Own Head Day! Take a break for creativity! Your kids don’t have to be the only ones getting into the glue and glitter this holiday season. Try making a head or fashioning a crazy hat to wear at your next party. Or if you prefer, take out your pencils and draw! If all else fails, maybe you still have a Mr. Potato Head around somewhere! I’m sure he’d look great with a cute Santa hat!
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Tuesday:
Fresh flowers brighten and color every setting! Make your space pretty with an elaborate arrangement or simple stems in water. Have one arrangement at work and one at home. Whatever you choose, you’ll enjoy seeing and smelling them every day!
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Wednesday:
Stay At Home Because You Are Well Day! When’s the last time you called work to say that you were healthy and not coming in? Um, never? When you were like 20? It might be time to try it! Take a day off to sleep late, go for a hike or get a jump start on your holiday to-do list that you’re already stressing about! Think of the time off as an investment in your well being and everything you need to accomplish during the rest of the month. And if you’re planning a wedding, then you definitely need a day off! Happy #WeddingWednesday!
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Thursday:
Eat A Red Apple Day! Keeping with our theme this week of doing some things for yourself, how’s about eating an apple? We all know the adage, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” I have no idea if that’s true or not, but who cares! I like apples and I love picking out some delicious-looking ones at the farmers market when I can get there. How do you like this larger-than-life apple? It was a huge prop we used at a fun Mirror Mirror themed event. #TBT.
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Friday:
Did you put jewelry on your wish list for Santa? I did! Here’s a necklace I made when I was feeling creative and crafty! I used a crochet needle to tangle the wire. It looks pretty cool and after getting a few compliments, I made some for friends.
Favorite Event Photos and Inspiration – Saturday:
Ahhh, the sight of flickering flame… I just love it! It’s so mesmerizing, so magical. The holidays and candles go together just like vodka & donuts, tangled Christmas lights & cursing, It’s a Wonderful Life & tissues. I’ll take any excuse to light some candles! Hey, I have another reason since it’s Advent. And later this month it will be Hanukkah… which means more candles!
