No, silly, I’m not getting divorced!
It used to be that when your friend got a divorce you would try and do damage control, but more and more women are deciding that this is the perfect time to throw a real rager. Divorce parties have become so popular that there are party guides that cover everything from who should be on the guest list to suggested activities. (Drinking seems like the only necessary activity to me.)
Until recently, the one thing missing from a divorce soiree was a song to sing while the divorce cake was being cut. (Always good to have a knife available when severing ties with an unfortunate gentleman.) In response to this small challenge, women’s advice site, LuvemOrLeavem.com asked songwriter Carrie Johnson to create one – “You’re Free,” – kind of like the good ol’ Happy Birthday number.
To celebrate the unveiling of the Divorce Party Song, LuvemOrLeavem.com has launched its “Already Left’em” video contest where women submit videos of themselves alone or in groups singing the song. Kind of like a refreshing take on chick karaoke. Get your submissions in by 12/15 at noon. Have fun!.
