There’s a new show on HGTV (or new to me) called Myles of Style. I think this girl won one of the design contest shows and now has her own. Because I’m so frequently asked “Where do you get your ideas?” I thought that I’d give you a lead. Inspiration comes from an infinite number of places for me – great store windows, ads, fashion, travel and television.
Kim Myles has a lot of talent. On a recent show, she picked a really pretty butter yellow color for the walls of someone’s living room and painted the bottom half of the wall the “darkest” (not really that dark) shade of yellow. Then she chose two lighter shades of yellow (same tone) to paint the remaining parts of the wall. It was really subtle but very effective. Another one of her great ideas is to paint some (or one) of the walls in a room a glossy version of the wall color while the rest are painted matte. It just creates a subtle edge but looks really, really good. If you haven’t checked out Kim’s show, do. It’s worth it.

I love your show so very much. I had to move in with my 84 year old mother who has dementia. How do you choose the people and homes that are on your show? We really do need a makeover in Houston.
Hi Kim i love yours desings, i got a brand new house and i need help from you with my house desings, such as colors on walls, furniture and accesories, the kitchen has cherry cabinets and black appliances, i think i need neutral colors because the color in the kitchen is really dark, i love yellow, green, red, and chocolate colors,i wiil apreciate your help on that, thank you much.
I have a kitchen that I am interested in redoing with dining or eating area attached. I love your work and was wondering does your show go to the Upper Peninsula. I know probably not but can you give some suggestions. I have shaker shingles on my over hang and a complete wall in the dining room. I am a traditional person. The kitchen is dark and want to make it lighter. Thank You
