World Cup Fever

We are mere hours away from watching the U.S. take on Ghana in the World Cup. If the last game was any indication, the stakes are high and it is sure to be invigorating to watch!

These games might be at the oddest of hours due to time zone differences but that has never stopped us before from throwing a party! No sweat if you know nothing about soccer, besides the gorgeous Christian Ronaldo, just treat your World Cup Party as if it were your annual Super Bowl Party. Just spell it futbol on the invites!

*Decorations; World Cup Flags are key as they are fun, colorful, and equally represent all participating countries. For added fun, place a “X” on the flags as the teams are eliminated. To create the illusion of crowd seating,  hang a thin plastic sheet on a blank wall, opposite the TV. Draw in your own rendition of the crowd in South Africa, or invite your guests to draw the crowd themselves. It’s a silly, novelty decoration that will get guests talking and giggling.

*Food and Drink; We suggest serving food and drink from the country that you are rooting for. If you are proud to be an American then this just gives you another excuse to fire up that grill while sipping on a Pabst. France? Hello baguettes, brie cheese and red wine. You really can’t go wrong—eat, drink, and be merry.

*Dessert; This party is just screaming for a soccer ball cake, and if kids are in attendance, they will go gaga over it. This is one of our favorite recipes from allrecipes.com…

What matters most is that the World Cup only happens once every 4 years, so let’s make the most of it!

  1. Cute party idea- I love an excuse to get together with friends. Too bad the U.S. wasn’t able to pull it together in time. Still, I guess it gives you excuse to try another country’s cuisine.
