Atlanta, Mexico of the North
Recently I was in Atlanta for my industry conference and got to have dinner with a fun friend who lives there and is quite in the know about restaurants. Knowing my taste SO well, she brought me to this fabulous warehouse of a place called Taqueria del Sol ( www.taqueriadelsol.com ). Who knew Georgia was known for their Mexican food?!
We sat at the bar (I LOVE counter seating and community tables – never know what you’re going to experience) and had some truly fab tacos. I of course had three: Veggie – Veggie jalapeno refried beans, queso blanco and roasted tomatillo salsa, Carnita – Twice cooked tender pork with salsa frita, cilantro and onions and Tex Mex – A crispy blue corn tortilla filled with picadillo and topped with lettuce, tomato and cheese. The rest of the menu was really cool too – note Ginger Tilapia! Ginger and panko crusted tilapia fillets with habanero aioli and spicy spinach slaw.
The place was so freakin’ cheap and delicious. I could’ve done without the not-so-stellar attitude of the bartender, but nobody’s perfect. Ole!
