File this one under the most random of topics, but for some reason it fascinates me. You know when you buy fresh corn (ok, we’re not quite there season-wise but we’re getting closer!) and you peel back the corn only to have those annoying threads? Well guess what you use to clean those strands off your kernels? A toothbrush! What could be smarter? I poached this wondrous revelation from an old article in Real Simple Magazine ( www.realsimple.com ). According to Real Simple, just take an unused toothbrush and “dig out stray silk threads stuck between the kernels.” I think I need an entire blog just on other uses for common items. By the way, if you’re not a fan of Real Simple’s website, you should be. It’s practical information is nothing short of magic.
