Kelly Green Walls

Permalink 07:00:00 am, by thepartygoddess Email
Categories: What's Hot Now?

I must admit that kelly green has not always been my favorite color. But lately I have gone through this Lily Pulitzer pink and green fascination and now I guess I like kelly green. I found this great photo in Domino of a kelly green kitchen. (The color is called Direct Green #6924. Check out Sherwin-Williams.com for stores). The photo inspired me so much that I’m painting the bathroom in our new office the same shade. I might have to repaint the whole thing come Memorial Day but in the meantime, I think it will be a fun change of scenery.

How Cool Is This? Eat Your Face Jello Mold

Permalink 07:00:00 am, by thepartygoddess Email
Categories: Food

I realize that it’s not Halloween but who cares. I just saw this product on the Food Network Show, Unwrapped, and I think it’s fun and fabulous. This guy has a great website featuring the world’s first "Special Effects Cookbook" where he sells a kit for $19.95 called the Eat Your Face Jello Mold. It’s such a great idea for kids’ parties, Halloween or when you’re just feeling obnoxious. Basically you make a mold of your face kind of like a dentist makes a mold of your teeth for braces or whatever. After a special process the mask hardens and you fill it with jello (mixed with condensed milk) and voila! you have a mold of your face. You can bet the next cool Halloween client who hires me will be getting one of these. I will not even go there with the fun you could have with one of these kits at a bachelorette party.

I Am Truly Infatuated

Permalink 07:00:00 am, by thepartygoddess Email
Categories: Furniture/Decor/Products

It is really difficult to find cool, modern outdoor furniture. I have definitely blogged about this before but now I have a new resource for you. Not cheap but definitely less than most stuff at Design Within Reach. Take a gander at HomeInfatuation.com and look up the Orange Wicker Chaise for $1,120 (it also comes in aqua!) They have a ton of other great options - is it obvious that I have summer on the brain? It’s overcast in L.A. as I type so it’s pretty much just wishful thinking at this point!

Great Gift Idea - Edible Arrangements

Permalink 04:52:32 pm, by thepartygoddess Email
Categories: Easy, Different, Cool Websites for Gifts

I have to admit (I am so sorry Edible Arrangements people) but I always kind of thought that the whole fruit bouquet thing was kind of goofy. My mother-in-law made a point of telling me that when her husband died someone sent one of these arrangements and she was thrilled. She liked it because there were so many people stopping by the house to visit and it was nice to have something healthy that looked pretty to hand out at a moment’s notice. When I had my baby, my sweet brokers sent me one of these arrangements and it was DELICIOUS. Some of the sweetest, biggest and most luscious strawberries I have ever tasted, and oh, the pineapple! Now you’re talking about a girl who is OBSESSED with sweets so the fact that I am raving about this is truly miraculous. So if someone dies or someone is born, send an Edible Arrangement. It’s a guaranteed home run.

Why I Love The Becker

Permalink 04:42:50 pm, by thepartygoddess Email
Categories: So You Want To Be an Event Planner

Sorry honeys (two sons, husband, father, brother) you’ve been replaced by the new man in my life - The Becker. You see, The Becker gets it. He is a great photographer, artist and businessman. Case in point. We do this great job (if I may say so myself) on Saturday at the very cool Roosevelt Hotel for very fabulous and fun clients, Alyssa and Travis. Never mind that the reverand kept calling her Aleeeesa and him Trevor, it was still magic. Becker, was the photographer extraordinaire. Just look at these shots (above and below) and then check out his blog for more fabulosity.

The guy is just smart, go see for yourself. Why is he smart? Because we hired him to do a job and he did a great one. Then, he blogs about us and lists our website for kudos so we can get more clients. He is much smarter than a really stupid photographer in Florida. Let me tell you what happened. My girlfriend in Florida, who shall remain nameless, tried to do a really good deed (she is an event planner) and blogged about a photographer’s work that she had seen. The blog was all positive, the photographer got credit on my friend’s site, etc. You think photographer chick would be thrilled. No. She complains. What a flippin’ idiot. Not only does she complain (my friend’s competition it turns out got the photographer all wound up - no agenda there of course) but she throws my friend to the wolves by talking negatively about my friend on a photography-industry blog. How stupid. The only thing that comes out of positive publicity is more positive publicity or more clients or both. Instead, this yo yo not only guaranteed that my friend will never hire her because she doesn’t understand the big picture, but she also guaranteed that other event planners like me won’t touch this ding-a-ling with a 10 foot pole. Who wants to work with someone stupid? Not me. In fact, I’m putting a hex on her right now. Feeeeeeeellllllll the evil, you evvvvvvvvviiiiiillllllll Florida photographer. In L.A., we love Becker. Smart guy. So there.
