Hello everyone! Hope you all had a great relaxing weekend. I am here in great New York and just finished two fun segments about awards viewing parties. One on Better TV and one on Martha Stewart Living Radio. If you missed any of these shows check out the tips below. Have fun!
TIPS:
- Involve your guests. Have your guests come dressed as their favorite actor or actress and turn it into a “Best Dressed” contest and award them with a mini trophy at the end! Pass out ballots and have your guests cast their votes prior to the Awards ceremony. Offer a fun gift to all the winners and a Grand Prize to the person who gets the most categories right.
- Go glam! Deck out your house with glamorous props and pieces! Have guests enter via red carpet. Buy a large piece of red fabric and center at the entrance to your house. Decorate with items such as award trophy statuettes, director’s clipboards and movie reels throughout the space.
- Dress your dining table! Set your dining room table with a bright red runner, sprinkled with confetti. Purchase clear apothecary jars and fill with gold ornaments to add to the theme. Lay jewelry and sunglasses in the center of the table to add some bling to the display. Place plastic award trophies with guest’s names on them as it doubles as a cute place card and take home gift! Go frugal and pick up the some décor items from T.J. Maxx!
- Trick out your bar. If you really want your bar to shine in the limelight, try stacking champagne flutes into a pyramid to act as a bar backdrop. You can purchase some really affordable glassware from Marshalls, one of my favorite places to grab a great steal! Place a galvanized ice tub to keep mini champagne splits chilled and ready to serve. Have fun naming the drinks after nominated actors, actresses and TV shows!
- Paparazzi! Enlist the kids as paparazzi. Keep them occupied at the party by letting them take pictures of the guests, dressed as celebrities. After the event you can upload your digital party pics to Flickr, Facebook, Shutterfly etc. to share with your friends and family!
